  • My straighteners died this morning. They've lasted for about 3 years and were £70 new so it's not a HUGE deal but now i'm faced with buying a new pair.

The ones that broke were 'UKHairdressers' branded but they don't seem to be about anymore. My flatmate had the GHDs when i bought mine and we tested them against each other. They gave the same results. I'm not kidding - i would have sent them back and got the GHDs had they not been up to the task.

Also my flatmate's GHDs broke after 6 months (at which point they replaced them) then the replacement broke after another 8 months at which point GHD told her it was due to wear and tear and they would cost £40 to fix. I've read all sorts of horror stories about GHDs dying from various websites (but then the people who complain tend to shout louder than those that are happy with the product)

Basically what i want is some straighteners that give GHD quality results and will last for 3 years ish. I don't think 3 years is too much to ask for when i'm only an occasional user and they cost up to £100.

I'm considering the T3 or GHD (or anything else that gets recommended to me) but don't mind spending more money if i can find a warranty for three years!!

Any comments from people who have had pro straighteners for more than a couple of years would be great.

    Cheers
    Jen

I've got the remmington £25 ones and they have been fantastic. In comparison to mum's GHDs I can find no difference apart from the price. I suppose it depends on your hair though. If you have really thick curly hair they might not be as good. Can't really test them on my DD (very thick long curly hair, but only 4!) as she is too little, but if you just need a few kinks out and the frizz flattened then they are great.

  • I currently have Me2 straighteners which are really good but as I have very thick wavy hair I wanted some ghds to get it poker straight. 2 of my friends use ghds and swear by them. I've just purchased some from HQhair for £75.00 and used the code BEAUTYBIBLE at checkout to get 10% off, I also did this through pigsback so got £7.80 back, so taking all this into account, these cost me £62.20! Can't be bad! I will also sell my Me2's on ebay so hopefully will get some more money back too!!!

Ideally I wanted a set of GHD ones for Christmas, but I must've been on Santa's naughty list

Can anyone recommend good ones? And at a reasonable price.

GHD ones do seem a bit expensive, but looking at all the others, there are so many to choose form.... all this 'ceramic', 'glass' 'ionising' etc is confusing. What is the best type to have?
