Well the evening has gone and I've done precious little flying apart from emptying and reloading the washing line, S&Sing the kitchen and prepping my dinner (the kids decided to organise a chinese for themselves so I've taken the lone partridge out of the freezer, defrosted it and shoved it in the oven with all sorts of goodies - I'm looking forward to it!).

Reason for my slacking is acceptable I believe. Can't remember if I said or not but a month or so ago best friend up the road (BFUP) was having problems with school kids. She's the last house on the dead end part of our road and sides on to a park, the other side of which is a boy's secondary school at which my son works. The problems involved the kids going up and down her drive, in her garden, cursing and swearing at her when she asked them to leave. etc. etc. Then coming back for more.

She mentioned it to me and DS, we discussed tactics and then it all quietened down again. Until yesterday. Apparently there were 10 of the little oiks all on bicycles going round and round the dead end bit then up her drive, then throwing stones at the windows. So she called the police. The police said to call the school. She called the school who said well, nothing we can do about it, they're off school premises. She persisted a bit, mentioned in passing that she'd spoken to DS about it a while ago and action was finally taken by the school.

The action taken scared my DS a bit as the deputy head sought him out and showed him a form saying 'out of school complaint'. His initial thought on seeing the title was 'what the f*k have I done?' But of course, he'd not done anything wrong and was asked if he could leave early and go hole up at BFUP' house to see if he could identify any of them if they came back. So he spent two hours up there and no-one came!

So, we've loaned a digital camera to BFUP and her husband and shown them how to use it. I've said that, as I'm off tomorrow, if they want to call me if they turn up again, I can use my telephoto lens and take a pic of them from my front garden for evidence and identification purposes.

Gawd, it's like operation  ORF  all over again!:rotfl:

Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio

"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me.. It is the most-requested column I've ever written.

My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

    1. Life isn't fair,but it's still good.

    2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

    3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone...

    4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch

    5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

    6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

    7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

    8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

    9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

    10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

    11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

    12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

    13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

    14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

    15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

    16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

    17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

    18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

19.. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

    20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

    21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

    22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

    23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

    24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

    25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

    26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words'In five years, will this matter?'

    27. Always choose life.

    28. Forgive everyone everything .

    29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

    30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

    31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

    32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

    33. Believe in miracles.

    34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

    35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

    36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

    37. Your children get only one childhood.

    38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

    39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

    40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's,we'd grab ours back.

41.. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

    42. The best is yet to come.

    43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

    44. Yield.

    45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."

:wall: :wall: I cannot focus on this flipping assignment. I've tried typing out what I've written, but I can't even read my own handwriting in places. My head hurts and I'm seriously considering just quitting it and accepting that I won't get any marks for it. My overall score so far is 55% so I've passed the course but this one is supposed to be another 25%. You know what... I'm going to finish typing this up the best I can, copy out the table I've sort of filled in and thats basically all I can do. The rest all requires work on the internet searching for blogs and stuff. :wall: :wall:

Stripes, who I believe is really spotty, will have to have a bit of an antibac spot wash for a couple of days then would blend beautifully with the pimply faced youths. Either that or would camouflage nicely in between the strawberry tree and the hedge as long as a big of camo paint was daubed. And, of course, if we attached a miniature camera to Stripes's forehead (in the manner of a miner's lamp) Mudders wouldn't need to do the squirrel bit at all, she could direct remotely :D

Greenbee - loved the Regina Brett - soooo true xx

Animals fed. bits and pieces sorted. I'm now going to watch 'Protocol' on cable - a nice, ridiculously ridiculous film...

Hugs Nicki. Can you wait with it until the morning? When you might have a better idea? If not then do as you say - rather than give up totally, send in what you done...

I wish I could wait but its the last continuous assignment which means no extension available :( I've tried so many time to sit down and do this work but I just haven't been able to focus which is how I ended up doing such a big clear out the other weekend as I hoped the break would mean I could sit down and just get on with it. I wouldn't mind but its actually pretty simple to understand when I read it, I just can't get my brain to function properly enough to answer the questions. I have to get my final 'project' started as well in theory as of Saturday with a deadline of midday 28th May, but I'm going to have to wait until Sunday and then I start my next course on the 1st of May as all the courses overlap by a month  If I've still got even a hint of this flu bug next week I'm taking more time off, I've got to shake it properly and I'll attempt to get some of my 'project' done then.

    Flitting in and out...

I have done a tiny bit of flying - I washed the main bedroom bedlinen yesterday! (Apart from dailies, that's it...)

Just wanted to send huge love and hugs to holly's sister, and also to the rest of the family.

I'll try and catch up over the weekend, or next week - I'm doing the extra supply work because now I'm on contract, I shall be waiting till the end of May for my salary - although I did get an unexpected payment from tax credits, and also got paid for this week! I wondered if they might leave that until the next one, and was a bit worried what on earth I was going to do for five weeks with no money!
