urg's 123 Back to Basics Debt Free Plan

Just thought I'd update to keep myself motivated.
I contacted the Council Tax office this morning and have now written a detailed letter explaining that the lodger has left. So will have to see how that goes. I've lost out on 2 month's Single Person's discount and I think that this is worth about £50!
Two of my ten items on ebay have bids :j. Hope to get some more soon! I am working towards having £50 in my paypal account before I withdraw it.
My next goal will be to get this job - if I do, I will hopefully get £100-£150 extra per month (if my calculations are correct).
I have also remembered that I need to pay my tax bill once the statement arrives. I have to query something on one of them as I don't understand why am being taxed on some savings I have already paid tax on! I think I am going to have to raid the sealed tin as I really want to make sure that my normal budget is geared to paying off my debt.
Better get moving on the last of my daily DFW things.

I met up with a friend who works at the place where i have an interview on Friday morning. I feel really stupid - my friend made the effort to meet me and then I forgot my purse so I couldn't even buy dinner. I did take the vouchers but I really wanted to pay seeing as she was doing me a favour:o.
It sounds like an interesting job and I feel a little more confident about it. I have to do loads of reading tomorrow. I've spent this evening working on my short presentation. I've got loads of ideas. I hope that this is what they want!!!
I need to relax now - I haven't been sleeping very well and I have a meeting tomorrow that I need to be very alert for!
Good night

Reading reports and stuff - am getting nervous about interview now. I know I come over well but maybe I don't come over serious enough. AND I have a MASSIVE spot on my chin - they're not going to be talking to me - they'll be talking to the big red sore that is growing there:mad:.
Right. Calm down. I need a list!- Re-read job description
- Re-read application form
- Pack bag
- Pack up ebay parcels to take to Post Office on the way to the interview!
- Read five questions from super-duper interview book
- Write down my questions for them - don't want to look stupid and that I haven't thought about it.
- Make a list of reasons of why I will be BRILLIANT at the job and why they can't do without me.
- Oh and I need to wash up!

I feel your spot pain. they ALWAYS show up at the worst possible time.
Lots of luck with the interview my love but I am sure you are brilliant (you have a great way with words on here)
hope you got your list sorted xxxNevertheless she persisted.0 -
Thanks Buffy,
Thanks for popping in - I'm never sure if I talk absolute rubbish or not.
Am calmer now - have been through my CV and the job description. I can sooooo do the job. Just need to convince them.
Didn't really get thorugh the list. It Was a bit unrealistic but I think that it will be ok. The ebay parcels may get done tomorrow if I feel ok. Wil get up early (as if going to work). Make myself look faband head out.
I still can't decide what shoes to wear - my interview boots (lovely, high and comfortable) died a few months ago!
I'm going to have a quick look at my spreadsheet and see how that lovely extra money will work out for me!
My brother came round tonight - I love him to bits and he has so many issues. I really want to spend some time with him and help him with his confidence. It must be hard to have a brother and a sister who are successful (even though I don't always think I am). I really don't think he rates himself at all. I really don't know how to help him but I really want to - our relationship is always a bit touchy. I am going to invite him to dinner one evening next week - he can stay and we can chat.
Right, need some beauty sleep and tea tree oil!

Hi
Interview was okayish- but I was too smiley and didn't give enough reasons as to why I would be a great manager. I am pretty sure that I haven't got it. A friend of mine went for an internal post at the same place and got feedback that she didn't focus on her management skills. Thinking back now - I know that I was guilty of the same. I am disappointed with myself but I can't really do much now.
I have a busy day weekend. I have managed to do some housework this morning and at some point need to do some food shopping. I need 4 NSDs to make target by next Sunday.
Better go and jump in the shower.

Quick update - I am so happy :j:j:j. I have just had a call from my former tenant. He wants to move back in tomorrow. Woo Hoo. It saves me the hassle of looking for a new tenant (better the devil you know and all that...) and I have some easyish money coming in starting tomorrow. It can't have come at a better time. Despite being so tired, I couldn't help but have a play with the spreadsheets. With this good news, and a good bit of frugalness, I reckon I might be able to be debt free by my birthday in January. I had hoped for Christmas but a month later isn't awful.
I do have some bad news too - I didn't get the job that I applied for. I will contact them tomorrow and ask for feedback.
Better get back to bed as I need to get up early and run around like a mad thing - I have a friend coming to stay tomorrow. I won't be able to stick in the spare room and will ask her to test drive the new sofabed.

What a difference 12 hours can make. My former tenant called this morning to say that he had made alternative plans and would be staying with his aunt and uncle for a couple of months. I am NOT impressed.:mad::mad:
I have decided that I will advertise the room this weekend. I have no idea what the rental market is like now so don't know what the take up will be.
I'm going to send some further evidence to the council tax people now. I NEED that refund of overpayments I have been making.

Hi
I have spent the whole evening doing sweet FA. I think I needed it.
I had a lazy dinner of bread, butter and fruit and have half-heartedly watched TV. I have signed up to Doo Yoo and placed my first 3 reviews. Lots more to do before I can get a payout but it all helps.
I have now set up my July spreadsheet and need to print it off in preparation for payday. I will be sub £10k. It is a big milestone for me. I know that I won't have the extra income from the lodger so won't be any where near debt free before the end of the year but I am pleased that it is going in the right direction. If I keep my spending in check, I hope that I can be sub £5k by 2010.
I better go and read a set of papers for an important meeting for tomorrow morning .
I think I am going to set myself some July goals that I can come back and review every week. That will help to keep me motivated.

Hi urg,
Don't be too down-hearted, at least you will be sub £10K after this month, I should be but forgot about my house insurance I paid on Visa! We are around the same in debt and I have given myself til Sept 2010 to manageably pay if off (we still have to live a little too)!
Sorry to hear about the job, keep on looking! x0
