    HI Swinstie and David

David - I think you are right. I am doing Hypno's challenge where I make £20 last as long as I can. I have been sticking to a budget but haven't really allocated spends. I need to look at that for the August budget.

Still chasing the blooming council tax people - I'm going to write a letter of complaint. I have been waiting for a month for a response. At first I was told I would have to wait 3 weeks; then 3-4 and today 5-6. I'll be working on a letter of complaint.

I'm currently surrounded by a pile of papework that needs filing. It's all been sorted in piles and needs putting away. I'll take ages!!

Better get on - got to get finished.

    Hi David,

I do exactly what you suggest and have my spreadsheet deducting what I spend and carry it over - I do it monthly though and so far it doesn't work for me - I am still over-spending! My colums are all minus, LOL! Any other tips?!

Try a weekly budget, even though paid monthly. Always round up your spending. If you spend £3.46 write (enter) £3.50 etc

I liked having a weekly set of challenges last week so am going to have another go - this week I will also add some goals from my July list. This week is a very busy week at work but I will have a go.
    • Create and stick to meal plans for the week Nope - in fact I resorted to take away on two nights.
    • 20-30 mins of excercise every day Nope - although had 4 very physical days at work
    • Sort filing Yes - mostly done
    • Contact tax office re query Yes
    • Collect information to work on the latest tax return No
    • Update my spending diary Mostly
    • List 10 items on Ebay Not yet - hoping to do some tomorrow
    • Bake a cake No
    • Continue to clear bedroom A little
    • [STRIKE]Clear all 'shared' spaces for potential viewings next weekend [/STRIKE]Yes - but the viewer didn't want it.
    • Only 1 hour of evening surfing a day. Not really
    • Read and sign papers for wedding venue and send off with deposit! Nearly

As you can see - it hasn't been a very successful week. Work has been incredibly busy. Will post my weekly goals for next week.

I've broken my filling that went in at the beginning of the month. The dentist did warn me that if it didn't stay then I may have to look at an expensive crown. Let's hope that they can patch it up.

I had a lovely evening at the theatre with OH. Feeling very guilty as he always pays for our evenings out. Will definately have to arrange a lovely treat when I am debt free.

    Better get off to bed.

    2. List 10 items for sale on Ebay every week (100 day challenge)
    3. Bake a cake and make a meal from a recipe
    4. No toiletries unless I run out and no coffee/snacks to be bought at work (100 day challenge)
    5. Exercise for 30 minutes per day
    6. Update my spending diary EVERY day
    7. Earn £100
    8. Create a full list of meal plans for August
    9. Apply for jobs (at least 3)
    10. Wedding planning goal
Other things I'd like to achieve
    1. Clear the bedroom - nearly there
    2. Keep going with training myself to be tidy as per Flylady!
    3. Limit myself to 1 hour on the computer per day (I think I am getting a bit addicted to this site!)

Had my interview today - don't know how it went. We all got along well and I hope I answered the questions but I am not confident. I have now decided that unless you gt the call on the day - you don't get the job.

Walked around Oxford St - didn't buy anything but decided to treat myself on a nice lunch - £9.40:eek:. That'll teach me! Need to update the spending diary as promised.

Wedding venue is all booked. We went to the wedding venue for a family wedding yesterday. Not sure OH really enjoyed it - there was a lot of sitting around and he was bored. I've also had my aunt butting in - she's trying to persuade mum that I didn't need to have a religious ceremony because it would be too hard for mum. I am soooooo annoyed. Why oh why do other people have to have a say!!!!

On a more positive note - I weighed myself today and I had lost 4lbs from last week. I'm not sure that this is a realistic reading but it was a boost nontheless. I also had my nephews come and visit this evening - it was nice to see them and play a bit of monopoly.

Still have a fair amount to do off my list.

Back to work tomorrow. At least there'll only be 2 days until the weekend!

  • Well done on the weight loss urg.
Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:
  • I do like your weekly and monthly plans. I have become nerous latley that one of my real life friends is on here so I don't feel completely safe posting everything, altohugh I guess it would be difficult to find me really. any how, enough rambling. I tihnk I might the plans a go.

cheers love and good luck with finding a decent venue, your aunt can most definitely butt out you only have one wedding do it your way xxxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.
