urg's 123 Back to Basics Debt Free Plan

Thanks Swinstie
When I had my main LBM in August last year I did think that I could be debt free by September 2009. The debt-free date seems to be going back. I know I am making good progress and that things have changed but I ssooooooooo want to be debt-free.
I get paid tomorrow, and unsurprisingly they didn't add my £1million bonus! So, I am going to make all my on-line payments to come out as soon as possible so that I can make my payments for July.
I will also call the CC company to arrange a BT for two cards whose 0% dates run out soon. It gives me some breathing space until next January. I might also try to re-list some items that I have not sold. I won't have time to add more but putting some items on is better that nothing.
My brother's coming over for dinner tonight which will be nice. I have taken out some pasta sauce from the freezer so no really cooking to do.
Til next time ...

Have just read your diary - you're very organised & motivated - I must follow your example (but maybe tomorrow....)
It's annoying when things don't go to plan but I think any disappointment is really just preparation so that the next time when that situation arises you can shine - like the job interview - you alrady know that you have to show more management skills and you have also had intern=view experience, hence less nerves.
Best of luck & enjoy dinner with your brother (but I would insist he washes up)

Thanks CM - it's nice when others pop in to my diary. I never know if it is interesting to others.
I do try to be organised and motivated but there is always something to distract me. Like this site - it's brilliant but very addictive. I also sometimes over-organise to make it too hard to do!
I think I am going to have to take Swinstie's lead and actually log off after a set amount of time to actually get anything done. I better get those payments organised!

Good news - MBNA managed to move some of my unused balance from one MBNA card to the other to give me a better credit limit. The lovely lady also extended the date to March 2010. I will make sure it will be paid back by then. Once this month's payments have been paid and the BT has gone through, I will only have one CC to pay off so it will be easier. I paid over £200 in BT fees and do wonder if I really have made a saving because the interest paymets may have been lower over that time.
Oh well - it is all done now.
Better get up and showered and dressed. I have to work.

I thought I'd post my list of goals for July to help me to keep on the straight and narrow:
- Create a full list of meal plans for July
- Walk 10000 steps everyday (need to find my pedometre!)
- Complete my Tax Return
- Update my spending diary EVERY day
- Stick to my budget
- List 10 items for sale on Ebay every week
- Apply for jobs
- Keep a food diary every day
- Make a meal from a recipe book (I have so many and I really should use them!)
- Bake a cake
- Clear 1 wardrobe per week as part of the great declutter
- Keep going with training myself to be tidy as per Flylady!
- Limit myself to 1 hour on the computer per day (I think I am getting a bit addicted to this site!)

The July plan isn't going as well as I had hoped but there is still plenty of time. I still need to find my pedometre! I have no idea where it is and I am not going to buy a new one (one of my old habits - can't find it? Buy another!).
My mum has been in hospital today for a procedure. It really made me realise how much I need to look after myself. Heart problems run in the family and my diet and lack of exercise means I will end up with the same problems as my mum and my gran in 25 years. I can't allow that to happen and I need to look after myself. My GP told me off for putting on more weight and my BP has gone up. I haven't decided what actions I will take but I think I will rejoin Weight Watchers. I can't seem to manage to do it on my own. I know it is not MSE, but I need to get fit and well for my future and stop making stupid excuses.
On a more positive note, I had some feedback from the interview I had a couple of weeks ago. The manager was really complementary. She told me that my application was excellent and they really liked me at interview. There was not much more I could have done. I was just pipped to the post on the day. She also was clear that I was ready for that type of role from reviewing my application. I am waiting to hear about an application that I have submitted earlier this week. It'd be a nightmare commute but it would be a great move and away from the place I am working at now.
On to DFW tasks - I will be posting my spare bedroom later on this month - I need to get OH to complete the painting that he has half finished and get my former tenant to collect a few things. I am holding off as I need to find out if the Council Tax appeal has been considered. I may need to ask him to provide a letter to the Council stating the issues in order to get my SPD.
I have the day off to spend with mum - may be on here.

Hi Urg123,
Just read your dairy whilst having my breakfast.
Just wanted to drop in and say hello and well done so far. Keep up the good work. You can do it.
Hope your mum is ok and sorry to hear about the job interview. But by the sound of it it will not be long before you get a mangerial position.
Good look in getting a lodger, I think I might look into that. I live in a three bedroom house on my own.
Take care

Morning!
oOH...I didn't know you had a diary. We always bump into each other on the daily thread.
Looks like your going well. Good luck with the lodger. Did your OH decide not to move in then?????DFW Nerd #11520 -
Hi Money Fritter and Babyhead,
Thanks for popping in. I know I will get there. It would just be nice to be there sooner rather than later. I just need to be more focussed.
Re: the lodger - while its been a brilliant idea to make some decent regular cash, I have had some experiences! I guess I like having the space to myself - all of the lodgers I have had been ok and really nice in their own ways. It is hard - I know the best one I had was who was much more like a flat mate and we did stuff together.
My OH will be moving in - I really need to declutter and make space for him hence the big declutter plan. At the moment - he lives with his folks and that works well for getting to work. He has the keys to my place and he comes and goes as he pleases.
I think I will get another lodger soon as it will really help with the DFW date. If we keep it going, then the money will be really helpful as we start to think about paying for renovations to the flat and saving towards buying a proper house. There I go again ... making plans is my forte. I just need to deliver on them.
Hope to see you soon

Hi Urg! Just popped in to say hello!! I like your list for the month of July, I often find that breaking things down into lists helps!
I know what you mean about making plans, I get like that too - I get soooo carried away, especially where becoming debt free is concerned, but its so difficult!
Good luck with the list, I'll pop back on to your diary and see how your getting on
