    Hi guys

Just bought myself the Navman 520 from The Link for good price of £150. However, I have had it one for ages now and it is still not finding a GPS "fix" in the house or the car!! I am thinking I must have a duff unit? Any advice? Did other peoples work straight of the box?

    Thanks

    Josh

Yes mine did. I presume you have put the SD card in, turned it on with the stylus and the back thing is flipped out?
There are three ways to get something done; do it yourself, hire someone or forbid your kids to do it.

I had a v similar problem. Took 20 mins to find GPS. (you have to ensure its outdorrs to test correctly - i.e. no roof in the way/reflective glass). I phoned the helpline and they said its probably a duff unit. Will be taking it back to Tesco this week as thats what the helpline (Tescos) said after NAVMAN told me to send it to them at my expense! :(

    May get a 520 now...

    NMEA is explained here:

Just means no GPS data found... try to reset the unit with the press-in solt at the top of the unit. May work but probably not.

Cheers for advice. I have tried resetting the unit but just nothing is found....I have given up! Really gutted as I wanted to take it for a spin! But with no GPS signal it won't get me very far!! I pray The Link have some more in stock tomorrow.

Oh well...thanks for your help. Also, do you know where I can get speed camera POI for free?

OMG this is so annoying all Link stores near me have none left in stock and I am stuck with this duff unit that I want to exchange for a new one....I dont want a refund. I might try Costco for the 510, but what is the difference between 510 and 520?

    This is my typical luck!

Hardly any difference - slightly better software - hardware is identical apart from slight cosmetic changes. The 510 has 2004 software. 520 has 2005. Thats about it I think...may be a bit faster.
