Growing Peas

I will! I have the strongest feeling that not many will reach the kitchen either lol
I might do a batch in the ground and a batch in pots and see how we go then thank you!
what size pots do you grow them in Deestar?
 Hi Mortal,
The pots I have used this year are about 10in in diameter and I grow 4 peas in each.
Did the same last year and got loads off of them. You could obviously use bigger pots and just plant more peas?
 Good luck!0

Explains why the ones i started in pots them replanted in the garden did not
do as well as those planted in the garden & left to do their thing.
Whoops! I've got 20 seedlings, which have grown to about 3 inches in a tub... I'd better get them transplanted ASAP if thats the case.SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you simpleton!"0

Thought I'd bump this thread rather than start a new one!
Planted some peas about 6 weeks ago and they were flying it up until the weekend - they've been pretty much all eaten by snails :mad: My first attempt last year ended in disaster when the neighbours cat decided my little plot made a good toilet. Avoided that pit fall this year by covering the plot (it's only small) with a trellis.
 Any ideas on
 - if it's too late to plant some more?
 - what to do to stop the snails the 2nd time round - I tried used coffee beans but they were no good
 Thanks in advance,
 Damo0

It's certainly not too late. You can sow peas right into June. Best choose a variety like Kelvedon Wonder and get cracking as soon as you can.
As for snails, I'll outrage the organic brigade and suggest good old-fashioned slug pellets, assuming you can't protect them by some physical means.
 Hope that helps.0

Not sure I have any physical means of protecting them other than lifting them up away from the ground. More than happy to lash on some chemicals nearby (those snails have had it too good so far this year!!). I wouldn't be too keen on putting chemicals on the peas themselves as it sort of defeats the purpose of trying to grow healthy stuff (I sure I'll drop that attitude if my 3rd attempt ends in tears!).
Thanks for the advice tho, i have some seeds left over that I'll plant on Saturday0

Tried to avoid slug pellets this year around runner beans and sweet corn, and have tried removing by hand (and squishing!) , beer traps, copper, bran and slug stop granules. Finally, after looking at the chewed up remains last week, and losing 2 pumpkins, I tried the organic certified growing success pellets. Fingers crossed, but seeing some plant survivors.0

Im having issues with my pea's i started the first set off indoor's ant they did great, however the 2nd set i planted directly into the soil and 4 weeks and nothing even though it was quite warm when i planted them.
about a week got i planted another set and no sign of these yet either, i had abit of a dig and there is no sign of the seeds!!! anyway i've bitten the bullent i'm going to try set number 4 today this time im planting them indoors like the 1st set (which are still doing great) once they are an inch or so high il move them outside.
My beans are the same, granted i've only tried 1 set of those but no sign of them after 3 weeks!! so i think i might start an indoor set of those too. This months aim :- Stick to food Budget / find £100 for my car insuranceMay GC :- £250/£234.55 :T:A:TJune GC :- £150/£127.37:eek:0
