It can be unlocked, but not for free. You will have to take it to a pro unlocker/market stall, or contact your network provider.

I wonder if you could assist at all?

My father has purchased the above phone, and I wonder if it could be unlocked at all (I have used the search facility but doesn't appear to bring up anything relevant, (at least not that I can see))?

The IMEI no is: 3582 6004 3706 679 and it is currently locked (I believe) to Tesco.

The E71 is a BB5 phone & the 1616 is a DCT4+ phone and both cannot be unlocked for free, contact a pro unlocker /market stall or your netwok provider.
