I code appears it means that it's already unlocked or it's not locked to Vodafone. Try some some different networks if you can to find out.

Ah I've just realised after you said about the network that this phone was on O2, not Vodafone, sorry

Thanks again for getting back so quick. That code didn't work so I've borrowed a couple of sims from people in the office to check the network and it was Vodafone, so I'm not sure why the first code didn't work. Not sure I want to risk it again as I think I may lock the handset.

Does there need to be an active sim in the phone for it to work?

The sim needs to be activated & working, you might it's unlocked already.

I have just put an active Three network sim in it and it says "Sim card rejected"

Should I put the Vodafone sim in and try the unlock code again, or should it be done with the sim card out?

A quick update, I have tried an Orange sim card in the phone and it works so it might be unlocked, but I don't know why the 3 sim won't work.

3 network want work, as you can't put a 3G network into a 2G phone, but it sounds like the phone is unlocked for you.

Ah that makes sense, I forgot that it was a 2G phone! It's a shame though as I really need to use it with a Three sim. Do you know if a Nokia 6230i would work with a Three sim?
