All well and good if the test is fair ;)

Congrats on your crap input in bold :)
The test is fair in my opinion.

As for the text in bold - surely its a no brainer? Its good for the economy if more people are in work and less are on benefits. Most claimants dont want to be on benefits and they frequently say as much when we talk to them. Those who are sick enough to pass the test, those who are so sick they cant take the test, I have no problem with them claiming their 'legal entitlement' as they obviously cant work.....at the minute.

I take it you have never needed to use the system ? or had a medical examination for benefits ? and you work for dwp ?

If that were true, why are there so many more people on sickness related benefits than ever before?
Yep - you deserve your name ;)

Some others seem to have the same problem with English that you do: alwaysonthego, bestpud, healy, ladyrider260 and LondonDiva.

To explain: I wrote: "the test is merely a means to get sick people off legally entitled benefits" - that simply means the test is unfair - as Queen's Counsel Mr PL Howel found out.

Indeed, my findings show that more people are failed on the test every year e.g. in 1996 there was 103,087 (15%); 1997 nearly double the number at 205,748 (20%) and 1998 it was up to 217,557 (22%).

I dont work for the DWP. I've never had a medical examination for benefits. I have had to use the system when I was last unemployed.

Do any of those answers in some way preclude me from offering my opinion? Or make it less valid?

Arent you only 'legally' entitled to the benefit if you pass the test set by the government?

Seems to me that if you dont pass the test then you are not legally entitled. The less people on benefits the better.
Err.. if the examiners are corrupt e.g. deliberately marked test wrongly - then the test is invalid.

If taking sick people off benefit is the sort of society you want to live in - i.e. deny people their benefits that they have paid for - then why don't you refuse to take child allowance or tax credits (or whatever current benefit is) - no didn't think you would ;)

    LOL - what a cracker!

It is entirely subjective - they hope you are having a good day so that you pass the test - they don't even have your GP's notes or expert opinions of your surgeon, consultant or pain clinic.

It is a test made for muppets to do - ticking boxes - and they can't even do that right.

Well i have just read your post and cant figure out what is supposed to be wrong with you(sorry), seems like you have a vallium problem and not a medical one, if i spent all day sitting at home swallowing benzo's im sure i would feel similarly, did you provide any medical reports? consulants letters? hospital referrals?, i can relate to the feelings you are describing as i have a sha**ed spine and im physicly unable to do the things you imply your mental health stops you from doing, (did you know anxiety is a side effect of benzo's?), your first question regarding your ability to answer the phone and take messages you answered by saying "NO, I can answer the phone" which in itself is a contradiction , i realy hope that you get whatever benefits you are entiled to but given no medical proof(consultants reports) and the contents of your letter i would be hard pressed to give you anything if it were my job to do so, sounds harsh i know but it seems like you need a stick of dynamite up your a**e rather than another prescription of vallium with tea and sympathy, i guess by your name your only in your early thirties as well?
P.S. just re-read it and seems like you have an alcohol problem also if you carry a can of lager in your bag to a medical!!!, you need two vallium to write a letter and one every morning to go to sleep, i would have referred you to the drug and alcohol unit personally rather than give you taxpayers money to live off of, here's a little reading material for you http://www.drugs.com/valium.html

What a load of rubbish lol Have you ever suffered with an anxiety disorder ? Cant see how a naffed spine is the same as anxiety tbh lol...Have i said i drink alcohol every day ? And do you know what mg of valium i im taking each time ? As for taking a can of lager with me this is more of a safety feature i use to leave the house...So for someone like you who im lead to beleive does not suffer anxiety i find it hard to undersatnd how you can comment on it.Or say that i have a drug and alcohol problem..I very rarley drink alcohol as yes i know it causes greater anxiety.Same as the valium (in high dosage) can.

Getting all my medical reports together this week :)

It's like me going out and buying you a running machine for your naffed spine and saying get on with it or a stick of dynamite will make you run faster ;)

I dont want to take people who are incapable of work off benefit but I dont believe that just because someone says that they are incapable of work that they are incapable of work. Nor because a GP says it either. Some GP's will give a sickline for anything as evidenced by people on here saying they have thrown them away because they felt they were well enough to work and never wanted a sickline in the first place.

I very much support helping those who are ill, those who are disabled, just not those who simply dont want to work.
