Another technophobe here. How does the TV card that someone linked to(the USB one) work exactly?
Do you just plug it into a USB port and that's it you're away and watching?:o

That's very true if you install the drivers and software on the bundled CD. However, newer versions of both are available here:

This is the same card - some of these still have the Kworld sticker under the Tevion one! Uninstall the card, reboot your machine and reinstall the drivers and the software. You'll find that it's not only much better at finding channels, but the lag between channel changed is reduced to a second or so.

Use a download manager to get this software as Kworld's FTP server is slow and prone to drop connections. Alternative sources for this software (and lots of other useful info) can be found in this thread:

    Newer software.
Don't be put off by the long rambling catalogue of grumbles on the digitalspy thread., but DO take the trouble to download both updated versions of the drivers and of the software mentioned. DON'T install them from the CD-ROM, as all who tried it agree that herein lies madness.
    1. Download the driver and software; extract the compressed files to an easily found location
    2. Open the cover of the PC and install the card. Replace the cover.
    3. Ignore the "found new hardware" nags when you restart the PC. First find the drivers "setup" app, restart when prompted, then run the setup app for the software.
    4. Follow the scanning options. I found a very large number of channels including some that were not on my Freeview box.
    5. You'll have to experiment with the software to see exactly how it works, but video and audio quality are fine. I haven't got EPG or TXT to work yet, but there are lots of references on the DS thread.

Anybody got the BBC channels on their card? No BBC channels and no ITV ones, unlike the freeview box downstairs. Strangely, though, Men and Motors, E4 and Morec E4, which I can't get downstairs is clear as a bell up here in the heavens....
  • Went to Aldi this morning at 9am to get the photo printer advertised as it is a Sagem 160 thermal photo printer under the disguise of a Medion. Was told they had no such offer, even though I had the dropped leaflet to show. Checked the Aldi website and they don't have the offer either, what is going on??????

I think it is on a clearance special? Meaning they are just getting rid of it, not selling it mainstream

Wouldn't buy it anyway, expensive to run
