  • My kitchen sucks - Its in a flat and its sooooo small its untrue. My front room to TOOOOO big, god knows why they built it like that, There is a huge space thats for dancing in when drunk. Very good but would like a bigger kitchen.

Think the dimensions of it would be 6ft x 3ft. The portacabin that my office is in at work has a larger kitchen!?
  • Here's my little kitchen:

    KitchenS6000695.jpg
^ Looking back towards the door.....the fridge is out of shot to the left hand side. BM lives on the side next to it.
DW (a slimline one) at the far end in this shot.

    KitchenS6000694.jpg
^ This shows the full extent of my worktop space! :o The WM is actually a washer-dryer and the tumble
dryer part does come in useful from time to time!

    KitchenS6000693.jpg
^ This grid system (I have two of them) is the perfect storage space for a small kitchen - we got ours as wedding
presents just a matter of weeks before Lakeland stopped selling them!

    KitchenS6000691.jpg
^ Now this I would not be without. This block was built in the 1950's, so originally all the flats had these
wonderful larders - most have now been knocked out to make room for people to put big fridge freezers,
but ours was kept - thank goodness!

    storecupboardS6000692.jpg
^ and finally, the storecupboard in the hallway. Please note plentiful jars of HM marmalade! This cupboard
goes back further than it looks - it's a good arms stretch right to the back so is a perfect storage space
for items bought in bulk, preserves etc. The small slow cooker also lives in there along with brooms,
mops, etc. There are hooks under the bottom shelf which means the dustpan and brush, wok etc can
live under there without taking up so much space. There is another shelf above those you can see
which takes packets of stuff waiting to be decanted into the storage containers in the kitchen -
bags of pasta and rice, that sort of thing.

If I could change one thing about the kitchen it would be to s-t-r-e-t-c-h the available worktop space somehow. Having the glass cover over the hob does help to an extent, but it's terribly difficult for two people to work in the room.

I'm currently working to the light of 2 bare bulb lamps as the ceiling lights have gone phut and I'm refusing to let DH replace them until the whole ceiling is replaced!

We've been here 3 years and have been going to do the kitchen next month and next month .. and so on...

But it might just happen soon!

That is one lovely kitchen. They all are (just spent ages looking at all of them). I'm renting and am not allowed to do anything, but if I had my own kitchen to design/decorate I would have no idea where to start!

Thanks - glad you like it. Yes, 2 years ago just now I was sick of stripping wallpaper and trying to get the place looking half decent. It's only in the last few months we finally got round to finishing the downstairs bathroom ;). One "friend" described my view as restricted when she visited.....

It is lovely being able to "see" inside some of your houses.

EH must be a James Smith fan too? - he's taken some lovely photos of the Hebrides and elsewhere and his online gallery is worth checking out. If you Google "Oiseval" his site will be the first one that comes up.

Oh yes - his site was one of the first I put into my favourites when I got my new laptop!! His stuff is stunning and if I could be even half as good I'd be delighted! His "Swans on Loch Bee" shot is one of MrEH's favourites too.

I had a quick look at your flickr stuff - some of your sunrise shots are gorgeous!
