Hi everyone
The ongoing refurbishment of my kitchen finally ended on Friday. Hope this link will work showing a potted history from start to finish. I had new doors and laminate flooring fitted too.
My kitchen is a fairly small galley kitchen and we disposed of the hatch through to the dining area to give more cupboard space.

GB - your kitchen is just lovely! How long did it take in total?0 -
That looks beautiful GB. I bet you're really pleased with it."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Hi Skint and Purple
Thank you so much for your comments.
Well, yes I am so pleased with it. It replaced a 35 year old kitchen so anything was better than that.
Timescale - planning early New Year (basically went with the fitter's recommendations). The scraping walls, old tiles off and decorator in to paint ceiling. March-April to get most of it done with decoration, tiling etc. Time scale was co-ordinating things like a different joiner for doors and flooring. Actual ripping out of kitchen and fitting new one was only a few days. One kitchen door was flawed so that was rectified a fortnight ago and decorator back last Friday to give doors another coat of varnish.
I now have enough cupboards etc that basically I can keep everything out of site apart from the real essentials like kettle, toaster etc.

A very nice kitchen GB:jI had simple light coloured units fitted over 12 years ago. They were cheap jobbies as I was planning to knock through (never happened) despite being a bit battle-scarred now they haven't dated.
Having had very large farmhouse type kitchens in the past and small galley style ones too I have to say I prefer the compact kitchens best (providing I am the only one in there LOL)Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -

I seem to remember some lovely refurbs you did to a bedroom(s)?
Hope all well with you and yours and no doubt splitting your time between home and the coast.

Yes I'm still in Leicestershire during term time and at the coast at all other times and every other weekend there too. Wherever I am, I miss the other place LOL. Trouble is I live in two wonderfully picturesque areas of the country and am spoilt rotten:oLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
Hey Math
Not at all. We held out until our 'twilight' years to do what I wanted. I have got the double glazing, the bathroom and now the kitchen. Not a big issue as I can enjoy and appreciate now. We weren't selling and we could live with it! Could have done it years ago but bringing up the kids and money going elsewhere far more important!
Glad all fine with you.

Love the kitchen Granny. It's come up beautifully. I bet you're already cooking up a storm in it.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0
