I finally managed to get a better picture on my camera this time.
Here's my kitchen 2 years on from the original one I posted
We've made the island with storage below it, changed all the cupboard doors and repainted.
Look a lot nicer now I think and feels more homely.
Only down side is that we picked mosaic tiles for the island and I can't use it to bake on as the tiles are uneven so I have to use a chopping board to do all my rolling out etc.
You can see my shinty bm sitting over on the bench, used daily and my best ever kitchen gadget0 -
oh you've all got such gorgeous kitchens here is mine now it's finally done,it's small and very basic but you should have seen it before we only had one cupboard on the wall and there was clutter everywhere and it seemed very cramped gloomy & dark, now I just love it :j anyway onto the pics. We only bought cupboards for the wall, the base units were painted to match, there was a big square hole on each door and draw which had to be filled & sanded before painting them and adding the matching handles bought from ebay.
I made the curtains, pelmet, tablecloth and seat cushions myself out of another pair I already had that were too light for anywhere else, they fit in here perfectly thoughYou can't see to well as pics are small ,but the clock and the vase were orignally blue so we spray painted them black to help tie them in a bit more. The table used to be more rectangular and came right to the edge of the door gobbling valuable space up until my clever OH made it into a drop leaf and we removed the 2 spare chairs to gain even more space,we can easily get them down from the loft if we have any guests round for a meal :T We also changed the interior door from a solid one to the glass panelled one to let in lots more light it's made such a difference:j

Dizzy Lizzie - what a transformation. Well done! I would not have thought it was possible to get them back to that state. Did you have to re-grout?
Miserley Mum - looks brilliant. Enjoy!
Carriebradshaw - looks lovely. What a lot of hard work you have put into it with all the soft furnishings as well.

Hello Muppet81. Thank you
OH had to regrout but I took off as much paint as I could from the grout. This made it more tiresome but at least I know there's no blue paint lurking under anything. Nitromors was brilliant.

This is a great idea for a thread, like you said, this is where it all happens.

Mad jealous of all your lovely kitchens...someday I will manage to decide what I really want and make it happen...maybe even this year!
Arkonite...I have tiled worktops too and bought a 'pastry mat' made by a company called Kitchen Craft...no idea where made I bought mine in Avoca and it cost €7.25...its a flexible sheet to roll pastry etc on...printed with different size circles...just goes over the tiles and is large enough that you don't ( well, I don't although I am notoriously clumsy!) flour all over the place, it stays on the sheet. I am sure that they are available other places.
