Can I just throw my kitchen into the pot please. I have been doing a lot of MS in it of late in that I have just finished painting all the previously dark oak doors and carcasses. Saved a fortune over replacing the kitchen or even just the doors.
It feels so lovely and bright now, though I do still need to cover up the nasty old boiler. Have acquired some more unit doors and am just painting those to cover it up with a false cupboard.
I am just dying to start doing lots of lovely home cooking it now.
you've done a lovely job,well done it looks great0 -
Finally managed to take some pics of my kitchen - but doesn't your own place look strange in a photo!0

Thanks for posting, I luuurrrrrve nosying at other folks premises! Question.. please don't take this as criticism... it's just a question... do you like using a mug tree? I used to have one and it drove me mad... my gran had cup hooks under the shelf above. Would that give you another little space on the counter?
Sooo glad to see that I'm not the only one with lots of pans!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Thanks to everyone who have posted their pictures. The really swanky ones are making me soo jealous. I don't want to turn round and be confronted by my own tip! I love all the pictures of 'normal' kitchens too.0

Thanks for your kind comments on my revamp. It is strange but when you look at a photo, you see things you don't see in real life. When I looked at my previously posted photo I was horrified at how bad the area round the boiler looked.
I have posted a new photo to show that spurred on by the earlier one, I have created a false cupboard, to partially cover the boiler, and have extended the tiling so it goes higher. It was lucky that I have had a box of the tiles in the cellar for the past 5 years. I did not think that I could handle putting hinges on so the doors are just hooked on but I think they do help to cover a grot spot in the kitchen. As it is open at the top and the bottom, hopefully there will not be a problem with ventilation round the boiler.
I am looking forward to making a lasagna in there tonight .. the kitchen not the false cupboard!
Do keep the kitchen photos coming. It is lovely to have a nosey.Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -
What a difference, muppet! I didn't really notice it before, so had to go back to look. You did a great job.0

Thanks for your comments.Know what you mean about the mug tree - but it was a pressie from DD when I moved here and I don't have the heart NOT to use it, lol. She thought that as I had quite a bit of stainless steel around, it would 'match'! The 'good mugs' and the remainder are all hidden in one of the cupboards - those are our everyday ones. If I leave any more than that out, then they all get used before anybody decides to wash one!.
Pans - there's one that's a double steamer plus 2 large ones to match and a skillet/egg poacher. Then there's 3 'odds and sods' - which tend to get used more than anything for some strange reason! There's also 2 woks and 2 different size frying pans, a Pressure Cooker on top of the cupboard next to the boiler - can't you tell I'm tall! There's 5 plastic colanders as well, piled on top of the pans!
There isn't a great deal of cupboard space which is a bit of a peeve of mine. This development consists of 25 - 2 bedroomed bungalows, 14 - 2 bedroomed apartments and 5 - 3 bedroomed houses. Mine is one of the houses. But some clever architect (male naturally!) decided that the kitchens of the houses should be smaller and have less cupboard space than those of the apartments and bungalows! Makes you really wonder what planet they live on, doesn't it!!!
Now I'm ashamed of how grubby that oven mitt thing looks in the photo- I'll swear the grease fairies put that there  !

Wouldn't worry to much Olliebeak.
I think photographs must highlight grease . I am pretty certain my kitchen did not look as greasy around the boiler as it looked on my first photo.
OH bought me some silicone oven mitts for Christmas. Yes ... last of the great romantics  . He knows me well though, anything for the kitchen and I am happy. The silicone mitts are brilliant. You just wash them after use and they are as knew.Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0
