anyway..... We [STRIKE]OH[/STRIKE] just cleaned it with white spirit and I [STRIKE]he[/STRIKE] gave it a light sanding before painting it in satinwood. ;)

    Hello everyone
I'm loving being able to see where you carry out all your old style concoctions! I'm moving in a few weeks to what was my Grans house we have updated the living room and the bedroom but the kitchen has to remain the same until we have more funds. At the moment it it's retro to say the least it was put in in the 1970s we still have old style orange cuboards and a yellow gas cooker with a daisy on the front. I will have to take a photo to let you all see. It's been nice to see your kitchens, its given me lots of ideas about what I want when we put in a new one.

    Thanks to you all again

Ancalime, your grans kitchen sounds like the one I have here...orange cupboard fronts! We rent this place and it is quite dated! Does grannies kitchen have melamine worktops too?

I might post a piccie later but if I do please remember this is NOT my choice!

I have two boxer dogs, here's a fairly recent picture. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i119/cooip/proud.jpg The puppy (on the right) was only nine months there... he's like a little horse now!

    Sink? Check
    Work surface? Check
    Plastering still not finished? Check
Bare lightbulg hanging from ceiling? Check
Walls that need tiling 3 years after the kitchen was fitted? Check
    Sockets that aren't connected? Check
General air of this kitchen will never ever be finished? Double check :D

But don't hold your breath, it may be some time before I post on here again :D

Nix - I'm right with you on this! Today we have just had a major milestone, because OH has transformed the bare lightbulbs into proper light fittings (which had been waiting since November). I need to paint half the walls where I removed the previous owner's hessian wall covering (yuk!).
Then we need to see if we can finish off 'under the sink' with the Ikea cupboard doors I got early January. If we manage that, I may actually dare to post a picture. But repairing some largish holes in the plastering still escapes me.....

Not posting a photo of my kitchen. I'm afraid it has a very much "lived in" look and is definitely not fit for a magazine cover. Elvis - I'm very envious of your kitchen. Do you actually cook in it? It looks too good to be true.
