i have been looking for wall tiles for ages but havnt been able to find any i liked until now
    :D
QUOTE=chickadee]Loopylass, I think you have the same cupboards as me, but they look completely different with different handles. Funny how that completely changes the look.

My pics were taken by OH just after he finished laying the floor tiles. It isn't usually this tidy I have to admit and now I have some plants on the windowsill. TBH the kitchen is probably the tidiest room in the whole house. I find it much easier to clean than the rest, probably because I have lots of storage so I can put the clutter away.

TM - I'm just getting used to the new layout of my kitchen so I completely understand it when you say you want to know where things are with your eyes closed. After a whole year, I still find myself reaching for drawers that aren't even there now!

I think all the kitchens are fab!!!

Black Saturn - your kitchen is just the same size/layout as the one in the house I grew up in!! My mom managed perfectly well being totally OS in it for about 20 years!! You obviously do a great job!!

It's obvious a lot of us (me included) had a good old tidy up (or rather - shoving stuff in cupboards etc) before the pictures were taken!! Needless to say, my kitchen is NEVER normally that tidy!! Normally there are cars all over the floor/table, paper, crayons etc on the table and piles of paper on the worksurface :p

I wish I could post a picture of my kitchen before we had it done - the most badly designed kitchen EVER with NO cupboard space!! We lived like that for 5 years - then decided we could stand it no longer!!!

:grouphug: At least you posted your kitchen up. You do wonders in your kitchen and you can see from your other threads that you love cooking and pottering in your kitchen. No offence to others who have posted but some just look sooooo clinical and clean I find it hard to believe that any cooking goes on at all.

I agree. I like the "real" ones bestest. The ones that look like they are loved and lived in.

i must admit , i didn't tidy up my kitchen before i took the picture's. as much as i would love an immaculate show house style kitchen. that just not me. i can't help but like my clutter, i love having a homely feel to the kitchen, warm and welcoming. i wish i could be clutter free, but i can't. my kitchen is a working kitchen and i have everything to hand that i need and it really is the hub of the home. i just love it.

We got the tiles from Tile Giant. They are in Preston but I don't know if it is a national chain or just a local store. JW1096 has them in her kitchen too! They aren't black, they are silver but it took us ages to agree on something that either didn't look too 'country cottage', futuristic (star trek) or cost the earth! I saw sone fabulous turquoise glass tiles that were to die for but they would have cost £800 just to do what you can see in the pics.

Are they a shiny silver because most of my things (toaster, kettle, microwave and oven are brushed silver)

No they are a kind of matt silver IYKWIM. We didn't want shiny either and this was a good alternative.

They are called Urano and are from a company called STIL Ceramicos in Spain. They measure 10cm x 10cm. You may be able to get them from a local merchant.

I hope you have some luck!

OK, here's mine. I did leave it until I'd cleaned up after dinner so it's in it's "overnight" state. And I did hang a tea-towel in front of the oven though so that you can't see how dirty it is!
