Wish i would have got 2 feeds fitted when i got my engineer to install the quad LNB !!! oh well !! If you dont mind me asking, how much did you get charged?

The full free-to-air/Freesat from sky channel list is here - http://www.freesatfromsky.co.uk/freesat-tv-choice-all.aspx

    Hope that helps

Fitter came, on time, plied with coffee. Fitted quad lnb and 2 runs of twin cable for free, (cable to phone omitted but as Im not going to download films its not a problem). I expect the fact that he played bowls with my son helped a bit. Biggest problem is sorting otu which channels will be left if/when we cancel the 4 packs.

but if you tell the engineer you'll pay him for quad LNB with 2 feeds/cables as a private matter, he'll probably quite happily do it

If they are a proper Sky installer in a Sky van (most of whom do seem to be reasonable human beings as I expect Sky refuses to recruit those who are not because of the aspect of being customer's homes etc) It seems to often be enough to show an interest in what they do and how dangerous going up ladders on their own etc may sometimes be. It goes without saying that extensive plying with tea and coffee and biscuits is an essential part of the proceedings

A typical Sky installer is a technical bod and not a Murdoch salesman and I think it offends them personally to think that their work might not still be in use in a few years time (that is the dangerous bit with the cable and the ladder required for at least some installs like my mother's) so if you can persuade them that their dish and cable will last for longer if it is made Sky+ and Sky HD compatible (as you will make out that you are possibly thinking of upgrading to those later) then they tend to come round to the idea. They have enough Quad LNBs and double cable on the van that they don't have to account for using those instead of the standard install items...........

I just asked him if he would fit a quad lnb and run a second cable to the other room," no problem, and I'll use twin cable OK"? Mind you I'm in a bungalow so no problem doing this, straight over the flat roof and a bit extra. :j
No charge, I had to go to work before he'd finished so did'nt get a chance to offer beer money.

Also got what looks like a new white digibox as above, came in a black and white box with Sky all over it.

If you look at the back or the underneath of the box somewhere there will be a label telling you if it is an Amstrad, Pace or Thomson Sky Digibox. Or go in to Services and select the System Setup menu and look for Manufacturer in the resulting list.

The LNB (Low Noise Block) is the device that the dish focuses the signal onto. It's the bit on a bracket in front of the dish that the cable from the digibox runs to. They come with either one, two or four sockets. So a quad LNB has four sockets, giving you 4 feeds (so you can have multiroom, Sky+ etc).

Got the letter saying please fill in D/D form. Replied saying I'll fill in if I decide to take up the packages. Within a week all packages dissappeared. Did not stop them sending a reminder today. Replied, without the packages to try out I'm not going to fill in the form.

Yep, they eventually removed my packages too after sending a few DD reminders/forms.

I'm quite happy with the free-to-air channels that are on offer.
I was going to get to stick with Freeview, but with the existing ariel the signal wasnt great and the price would have been the same to get a new ariel fitted, so im better off :j

I was just disappointed that they turned me off so quickly. Havn't had it 2 weeks and it was gone. Oh well.
