Are you allowed to take hand luggage on? We have paid for normail luggage to go through, but I dont remember seeing the option of hand luggage? Is there a charge?
Also I assume they provide blankets but for an additional charge? Does anyone know how much?

Of course you can, no you don't need to tell them in advance, and no there won't be a charge.
I don't know but I'd be surprised if they didn't say on their website...Also I assume they provide blankets but for an additional charge? Does anyone know how much?0 -

£5 if pre-booked, £7 if bought onboard.0 -
I have a concern. We are travelling with Air Asia from Penang to KL and arrive in KL at 3.45pm. Our Flight from KL to Stanstead is at 5pm. I had assumed that this would be treated as a connecting flight so my luggage would get automatically transferred to my London flight. From speaking to the call centre it seems this isnt the case and I need to collect my luggage and check in again!!! Clearly I wont have enough time to do this as the check in desk shuts 60 mins before departure.
I may need to change my flight from Penang to KL and incur the extra charges but that means arriving at 10am in KL i.e sitting around for 7 hours in the airport with one 4 year old and 15 month old prior to boarding a 13 hour flight. Doesnt seem very tempting!
Has anyone arrived at KL after a short haul journey to start their long haul flight? What was the procedure with the luggage. is it worth me trying to speak to the office in KL when I arrive there are do I just have to take the 10am route?
Any thoughts?!

It's a point to point airline, so no transfers. Since they cannot guarantee that the Penang flight will run on time, they won't agree to keep the check in desk open. You can always ask, but don't bank on it.
I would have suggested that you book a room at the airport hotel; Tune Hotel for less than £15, but your timings make that difficult, here's why; check-in time” – 2.00 pm – 10.00 am & Your room will be held for your arrival until 1000 hours following the first night of your reservation - after which the booking will be deemed cancelled.
You could try booking two nights for £30 and calling the hotel in advance explaining your situation.
They do have 3-hour ‘Refresher Package’ short stay option available between 9:00am – 6:00pm. Subject to room availability via enquiries at Front Desk only.
No guaranteed room there either.
It's a pain.
You can also take the earliest flight, at least that will get you in before 10 am. But you can call the hotel from Penang to let them know that you'll be arriving a particular flight and may be late checking in.0 -

Did you book it as a connecting flight with a through ticket or as two separate ones? If they sold it as a through ticket they should definitely treat it as an official connecting flight and your baggage will be treated accordingly, unless they specifically mentioned otherwise during the booking process. If, however, you booked it as two separate tickets then I'm afraid it's your fault for making unjustified assumptions and you'll have to buy a new ticket or pay the fee to change your old one.0 -
Air Asia don't do through tickets, full stop.0

In that case this applies...Air Asia don't do through tickets, full stop.
I didn't know Air Asia's particular policies, but the same rules and reasoning apply to all airlines, hence my original answer.omelette451 wrote: »If, however, you booked it as two separate tickets then I'm afraid it's your fault for making unjustified assumptions and you'll have to buy a new ticket or pay the fee to change your old one.0 -
Air Asia only offer individual flights, you may be best taking 24 hours to see KLHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE Forum Team0

My friends travelled from KL to Stansted. They had to pay for inflight entertainment if they want.0
