Sorry, I may have misunderstood ... he is not going to drive up the M6? how else is he getting to Glasgow?

If he was at Blackpool an hour ago, then it is fairly easy to drive to the M6 & home from there.

That will be the quickest way home.

He was going to go through the lakes,an extra hours driving for the scenery, but will go direct to carlisle now using the main roads.Sorry,I dont drive so M whatever means nothing to me:o, so didnt realise he would have to end up on that route anyway.
Cant wait to see the car:D

No wait I just looked at a map on google,he was going to avoid the M6(not sure if all of it or just most of it) by travelling on A roads through the lakes, via wigton then onto Carlise meeting another A road. But that would have made his journey over an hour longer so they are braving the M6.I couldnt have told you yesterday what country the M6 was in so forgive me for sounding like an idiot.I was not made to drive,I was made to be driven;).

Doing the Wigton route would not have added an hour!!!! I suspect it would have been closer to three .... its still the Easter hols, so the Lakes will be busy ... wow ... glad he decided to take the M6 .... :D

Funnily enough my sister lives in Wigton .... not much there ...

So he got insurance for £2000 third party? out of interest how much was the car? I would guess at no more than £400 ? A 9 year old Alfa, I hope he likes getting his hands oily!!!

Funny he got a car in Gloucester to take back to Scotland, regionally I often see cars I like cheaper in Scotland!

(there is some regional adjustment of pricing depending on local expectations and incomes)

My first thoughts reading this thread were what a daft muppet he was, but thinking back to when I was his age we were buying motorbikes upto 1000cc and 3.5 litre Rovers! - insurance was quite cheap then so who am I to judge haha!
Hope he makes it back OK.

I am not having a good day so far:o.Its Wigtown that had loads of book shops not Wigton:rolleyes:,if he followed my directions he would have an extra 100 mile journey to visit the wrong place all for the sake of my ommitting a W.Well I am sure your sister would like Wigtown too.

    Wow ,...

Slightly different ... but you may have said Wigtown in the 1st response ... I may have just ignored that ... assuming it was a spelling mistake !! :o

But Wigtown is over 50 miles from Dumfries (which is the nearest major town he will pass!!) ... so yes it would have added over 100 miles to his journey & 3 hours to time ....
