Assuming that you're willing, one solution would be for him to "sell" the car to you and you take out a policy in your name with him as a named driver, or just you as a driver and you go and get it and him.
Not cheap, but would at least get him home.0 -

Oh no,I have never driven so dont know the rules but I thought if it was taxed and mot,d it could be on the street just not driven without insurance.
18 yr old male + 1.6 alfa is a very very expensive lesson i'm afraid."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -

Normally when you get a quote it is valid for 30 days or so, this has always been the case when I have been shopping around for renewals for my car insurance, then you can just log back in and retrieve your quote at the price originally quoted, did he get any quotes online? or were they all done on the phone?Aug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00

How come you didn't go with him?
My mum wouldn't let me go now at the age of 22 never mind if I had only passed my test 2 weeks ago!
The best option is for you to maybe phone this guy and plead with him to take the car back.
My first car was a Fiat Seicento 900cc that cost me £900 tpft! and that was 5 years ago!
So having a 1.6 2 weeks after passing your driving test isn't exactly clever is it.0 -
Hi,
Could you insure it under your name & add him as named driver ... not sure that makes any difference nowadays ...
Have looked at 3rd party only?
Have you looked for specialised young drivers insurers?
Otherwise - sell the car? Maybe you need to insure it under your name, & get back to home & then sell - cut loses - I assume it is some expensive car - big engine, etc ... suggest he buys Fiesta or similar ... little 1.1 ... that'll be cheapest!!
