Mine was a few years ago now  but think it was about £60 and we had Girls Aloud, Jools Holland, and the ones that made my night were 4 Poofs and a Piano!

Wouldnt have missed it for the world!
  • Mine's £70, which includes champagne reception, 3 course dinner with wine, casino, ceilidh, DJ set from Trevor Nelson and a popular local DJ night.

It is a bit expensive, but I'm going with 9 friends so it will be fun. Plus I'm planning to put a bottle of gin in my handbag!

Best tip is to get a table with some hyper-religious/healthy types. They won't drink the wine and you get the 3 bottles to yourself!

Well thats pretty good! I assume that you're at Salford? If your grad thing is in the Lowry...

For my course we're doing a drinks reception/food etc. Paying a tenner so its not half bad.

    Indeed indeed :)

Just four weeks to go eep!!! =D

  • P.S. The Brittania on Portland Street is even cheaper (£25 per head for the same set up but menu wasnt as nice - ours is simple - tommy soup, chicken something or roasted veggies, choc profiteroles)

We did a course ball there about 2 years ago which was £20 a head including a DJ etc.

It wasn't amazing, but it certainly wasn't too bad for what we paid.
  • My graduation ball is £60, for 3 course dinner at a posh hotel and music and some sketch artist thing, as far as i am aware there is no live band or anything for that price, though it does include transportation to the hotel, and the hotel is near heathrow so it is more expensive then other places. The real robbery at my university is that tickets to my actual graduation are £25 each, and the ceremony is on campus in the sports hall!! That includes one glass of champagne, no food. One of the students has set up a petition and things because it seems ridiculous, if it was in some posh place then fair enough, but in the running track opposite my halls? Really not impressive!

As far as I know (none of our 3rd years have mentioned it!), we don't run a graduate dinner/ball/event except for the graduation ceremony itself. However, our summer ball tickets were £30, plus at least £5 for travel (assuming you used the uni bus service, and didn't book a taxi seperately), and that included the bands/DJ's and fairground rides - the only food or drink included in it was a chocolate fountain that had actually been emptied and closed by about 9pm. It was a good night out, but definately an expensive one. There was also "gold" tickets available, which were (i think) £40, and included a champagne reception - I haven't heard any good reports though!
