I know they most definately have a monopoly on this, but £57 to go to a graduation ball?
I was thinking £20 - £30.
the details for my uni are here -

How much have / will you pay and what will you get for your money??
Looks worth it to meThe Graduation Ball ticket price includes:- Complimentary Welcome drink on arrival
- Delicious 3-course dinner
- Complimentary wine (3 bottles per table) with your meal
- Live Ceilidh music from Thistle Dubh
- Live ‘covers’ band
- Disco
- Free entry into a fantastic prize draw

Just to point out that on there is no bands that I've heard of, they don't say what the prize draw is, it could be a 1 in 3000 chance of winning a £10 tesco voucher!!
On the table is 10 people, so 3 bottles of wine will not actually go that far.
and reports from last years say the food was very poor quality indeed0 -
Graduation costs to add up, accomidation, gown and hood hire, some uni's charge for tickets for the parents, photos, etc etc. Its worth looking at now so you can budget. Or so you can make it clear what you will pay for, i.e. I covered accomidation, gown hire for myself but my parents really wanted the professional photographs so they paid for them....My graduation ball tickets were £70, the ball was hours journey away from the university so train tickets were about £15 or so, then it was too late to travel back afterwards so hotel accomodation came on top of that.
Were you both looking for the word accommodation? (Sorry, I'll go away now.)0 -

My class (about 80 ppl) are arranging our own night out. Much cheaper and more intimate!0

i paid £100 but all food/drink was included (not a sit down meal though) with bands and fairground rides and a casino it ended at 6am.... they won't be making a huge profit on it though at £57.
depends on if it's worth it to you - if you were heading out with a group of friends for a 3 course dinner with a glass or two of wine, with a welcome drink and music/bands.... i dunno, i don't think it's excessive, but it's certainly not a bargain.....:happyhear0 -
Ours is in Manchester, at £60 a pop I'm afraid I'd like to get drunk in better company at a cheaper rate!
It's not just the ticket price. I'd want a new dress/shoes/accessories, taxi home or hotel room and drinks money. Easily talking over £200 so I'll pass!DRO granted 17/10/20090 -
Mines is £55 but like others have said it's to mark the end of 4 years of studying with some fantastic friends
Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.0 -
