Absolute twaddle on the adjournments, if you are up for no insurance, if you can not attend court and stick your insurance on the clerks desk, you will be found guilty end of story, the chances of requesting any adjournment is about the same as a iceberg has in the dessert, the panel take the view that is you are not sure if you have a document, what the hell are you doing driving.
This is an absolute offence, the defence only applies to employees.
Even if that was the case, the charge would only be set aside if you had your documents at court.
Ted Evans has connections in high places, he will be hoping to pull strings.
I will also be speaking with the police on the terms of this court bail given the address info, the bail will stipulate that the charged resides at this address, I think a quick call to request a bail check is in order, hopefully he wont be living at Teds property and his bail will be revoked for lying.
Why you ask, because this bloke and his family are absolute **** that have fleeced and robbed.

Vax, you are the one speaking twaddle. You state that if you cannot attend court that you will be found guilty regardless? That is utter nonsense. If you plead not guilty the case will be adjourned to another date for a hearing so that blows your theory out of the water.

now hers an interesting one, the parish council talking about the dutch tourist incident
    http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/9223450.Chairman_s_shame_over_Haworth_car_clampers/
but note the paragraph further down:
The former mayor of Ashbourne, in Derbyshire, Caroline Cooper was also clamped on Monday after she used a ticket given to her by another motorist leaving the car park.
Well that rings a bell, doesnt it.................

He also managed to clamp the former Speaker of the House, Betty Boothroyd, I think that might be his fatal mistake.

oh, and even more interesting, further down in the comments in another article:

I was clamped by that scumbag 2 years ago with my 2yr old son in the car. We were so skint we'd taken sandwiches to eat in Haworth and I had to use my credit card to pay the unreasonable £75 release fee. Someone thought they were being kind by giving me a ticket on their way out.

I pretty much am convinced that is part of the scam, he has a mate buying tickets and dishing them out so they can then clamp. That is fraud, pure and simple.

    even TripAdvisor is onto them
    http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g186409-i8192-k2558957-o10-Car_parks_free_advice-Haworth_West_Yorkshire_England.html
A poster on there says Evans is the owner, not Farnell

    http://bronteparsonage.blogspot.co.uk/2007/05/haworth-clampers.html
The Chairman of the Bronte Society is also annoyed by them

    This makes pretty depressing reading:
Most shopkeepers for miles will tell you stories of people who have
been clamped for a variety of reasons. The police station opposite
has endless tales to report, especially as many of Evans victims end
up going in to complain - this on a daily basis.

Evans lucrative racket, which has involved intimidation and bullying
to the degree that one of his 'minders' even became the first in the
country to be given an ASBO for his behaviour in the car park.

All the local people, including the police are clear on one thing.
They will tell you that Evans is an ex-JP and knows the law back to
front. "No one can help you" - "he is operating within the law" -
this followed by warnings not to tangle with him.

The council, the local paper, BBC Watchdog, Channel 4 etc have all
taken him on. The local paper has also tried. In response, Evans
crows even more that no-one can stop him.

One police officer told us that you have to be careful because not all
the places in Evans car park are clearly laid out and that Evans
    capitalises on this confusion.

However, Evans has of tricks up his sleeve to 'excite business'. One
is a sign to remind people to park BEFORE buying their ticket. This
ensures that the family will have already emptied from the vehicle and
be waiting for you to return.

Another feature is the positioning of the signs. Standing looking at
them when investigating is one thing - seeing them as you drive in is
    not anywhere near as easy..

And the third trick is the best one, which Evans uses sometimes. He
erects a table just near the entrance to the Car Park and sits their
in a straw hat, attempting to sell his books. This dominates your
attention as you drive past the 'terms'. As he tries to sell you a
book, he does not disclose that he owns the car park - instead he
delivers a line telling you that he is there, selling books and
raising money for war veterans. A common mistake of the public is NOT
    to buy a book.

Read the rest of the article, its VERY disturbing, the guy is some sort of neo-nazi fantasist thug.

Gareth Evans and Ted Evans are different people. Ted Evans is aka as Edward Evans. He is also a dubious author and has self-funded books for sale, which reveal a fetish for power and control - mostly written around German officers and criminals. He is a property investor and ex-magistrate. He was the boss of Carstoppers, but Carstoppers seems to have changed hands between Ted Evans, Gareth Evans and Tony Farnell. Gareth Evans is Ted's son. The three operate the scam in the Changegate Car Park, Haworth, and at other locations.

Absolutely fine if no criminal damage but these are hardcases so you would have to be very very careful with them looming over shouting threats at you.

Or if mechanically minded, change the wheel including whatever is necessary to remove the clamp then rebuild & replace with new wheel.

Or pay a local garage to tow the car elsewhere, clamp and all. If cheaper than, or a similar amount to, that demanded by the scammers at least the money would be going to a legit local business. Then return the clamp undamaged via the local Police station saying you need to pass it to them as you felt intimidated by the thugs on site, and the Police can then see there is no damage whatsoever.

Anything is better than lining the pockets of these scum.

No, its perfectly legal. And for that reason i carry a 9 piece lock pick set from here and have practiced lock picking for several years as a hobby. The first thing I did was go round and try picking all the padlocks I owned, and all that i could pick I threw away and bought better ones. And some of the most expensive chunky ones were the easiest to pick.

Or, give the clamp to a lorry driver, for him to hand it in to the police. In, for example, Penzance. :)

I notice that the address of the Police office opposite the notrious car park is 28 Changegate Haworth BD22 8DY.

It came to my attention, that Ted Evans owns land adjacent to the police station (actually, about 4 doors up), so I now wonder, does Evans or one of his companies, actually own the Police office! If he does, that could partly explain the police inertia on brining him to justice. Land Registry is closed today or I would check.
