Marshallka, just wondering on how your sister is doing?

    Any updates yet?

    Hope she is okay.;) XXX
She is still in there. They are waiting for a doctor to come and review and she cannot come out til then. It just a matter of signing the papers we think and that is all and then she has to go back for this colonoscopy in a few days. The only reason why she said she would not have it done there and then was that it would have meant that she would be in all over the weekend and they will not allow kids in so she wanted to see her son and then go back BUT looks like she IS in over the weekend anyway cause of a doctor signing her off...

She seems fine though, was more interested in x factor than visitors. lol...

Just have to wait then now for this other report. We just cannot understand why they are saying she cannot come home but I spoke to nurse last night who said that her doctors are not based there and they definately need her reviewing before she can come home. If I were her now I would start to prep for the colonoscopy and get it over and done with if they will allow her to now. She is still sore but her BP is a little better.

Thanks for asking and hope its good for your dad too.

From my own experience, this is par for the course - one of her doctors needs to sign the discharge form, write a discharge summary (letter to her gp etc.), arrange any medication etc. Unfortunately the only doctors in a hospital at the weekend are those on call. I do hope things work out for her soon.

Hi Paul. Hope you are doing OK in what you are going through. It was a case of the doctors not being around at weekend BUT a doctor has been to see her today and has told her that they want her to have the colonoscopy before she comes home and that her own docs will be round tomorrow to tell her that. The problem is that she has requested a general cause of the last one she had which was so painful. Today they have said that they want to prep her tomorrow and hopefully she can go down theatre tomorrow or if theatre is not on for tomorrow she will have to come back as a day patient. They really want to get it done but I know how blummin painful it is so she wants the general. Just have to wait til tomorrow but she is very perky still and just wants to get home.
    Thanks for your input.;)

I am confused though at them doing this one as I would think that a clear CT scan would be all they need. Surely a CT is better standard than a colonoscopy for detecting things. They told her that that was completely clear...

Glad he seemed better yesterday Di. Its all hossies and troubles isn't it.

Well on Friday, I had a letter from FOS saying that my complaint against Lloyds was now with an adjudicator but I tried to ring him to say it was done and dusted now but no reply back as his answerphone was on.

Just heard from mum now, dad in a little discomfort today with his tummy but they are looking after him, we never get 2 days the same do we?

So I then rang the hospital myself, the one in charge said dad been a little restless, but I suppose with a bad tummy it does not help, as he does also have an anerysim there as well. They are actually having this checked upon tomorrow.

lol, think the FOS have that much to do, there have been a misunderstanding somewhere.
Hope you get through to them tomorrow.;)

  • Hiya Karen .. I gave my friend a call this afternoon (he's an anaesthetist) and he made two comments about your sisters ct scan: First, it's unlikely, for example, that if you had a bruise on your arm, it would show up on a ct scan. i.e. sometimes the 'mark one eyeball' gives a better indicatiion of anything wrong! Second, if you're concerned about why they are doing a colonoscopy then the best thing to do is ask (and keep asking until you get an answer you understand/are happy with)!

Here's hopeing it all resolves itself soon...

I'm doing OK today thanks, it's that time in my 'cycle' when the chemo seems to attack my hair follicles!! Last time round I lost most of the hair on my head, so this time it's gone for "other" areas....... I woke up this morning to find that in the night someone had given me a Brazillian:eek::eek: But at least I'm not feeling poorly (I'm sat here with a cup of tea & a clocolate muffin, singing along to the christmas carols on Songs of Praise!!).

Di - hope your dad feels better soon:o
