Hi Marshallka - thanks for the message (and to you too pinknico) - I found a lump in my neck in September - had a 'try' at antibiotics (no change) so it was biopsied in mid October and the call came from the hospital on 3rd November (a Tuesday). From then I went straight into hospital (to stage the spread) and I had my first chemo that Friday. in 'typical' Paul style, I've got a particularly uncommon form of NHL - it's very aggressive (but that also means it's easier to treat). I've had two cycles of chemo now (and another four to go), the side effects are pretty unpleasant - but there are some wonderful people out there (like the Macmillian nurses) who help make things a whole lot easier. Today Marshallka, I'm feeling a whole lot better - just tired!
To anyone who's ever given blood (like you) I really do send my heartfelt thanks ... I know the people whose blood I received were pretty special 'cos it made me feel so much better!:AIgnorance can be cured, but stupid is forever!:A

Paul...........your wonderful and so brave.
Must give you credit, with going through all your going though, also helping out on here....wow, your SUPER........:T:T:j:j.
Good one Paul, you keep your chin up hunni, you deserve all the nice things in life.:A
I remember our conversation about his before, think I also told you about my youngest, he is almost 15 but when he was a toddler he had a lump in his neck and of course he was taken in to have a biopsy, the 2 weeks of waiting for the results was the worst time of my life.
Actually it all started when he was about a year old, we taken him to the GP and was told "there is nothing to worry about, give it a few weeks it will go down and not get any bigger"
Yet it did grow and grow within a fortnight of just taking him to see the doc, so we went back and forth several times, again told its common and stop being a paranoid mum..........
I changed our doctors and he was great, my son was booked for hospital that same week as we seen the GP.
Anyway, thankfully the results were good, they explained that it was a lymph node that should have gone down by birth, but it was doing the opposite - although they did also state that its a good job they taken this away, or it would have kept growing, and could have caused my son to be paralysed all on his right hand side, the same side of where the lump was.......scary.
I used to at one time give blood until going on meds, my hubby was until he became depressed, but is to start giving again and my oldest gives it all the time.;)
You look after yourself Paul and we are here for you as always.;):beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi Gerry
Hope your well hunni.:A
Thanks for asking on dad.
Well so far although he is doing okay, eating, sleeping, taking his meds etc, he gets rather unsettled when visiting time comes, he is always begging to come home, its so heartbreaking.
We are hoping the staff will have some news on him this coming week in regards of Christmas, just hope he will be able to come home, or even if they allow a few hours it will be nice.;)
Thinking of you too hunni.:A:kisses3::smileyhea

Poor soul, it must be heartbreaking for your mother to leave after visiting times and no doubt she’ll be trying to put on a brave face for your dads sake. Its so sad, but looking on the positive side at least he remembers what a wonderful home he has and that’s why he’s missing home and the family so much.
Hope you get some good news soon sweetie, Take care of yourself and try to stay positive.
Loads of love

Missed this one last Night Gerry......sorry hunni.:o;)
Yes it is difficult, dad clings on to mum's arm, and each time a staff member has to encourage dad into doing something else, that is the most awkward part about it really.
Yes that's right, he remembers home which is good, so that is a bonus really.
Will be seeing dad again later on, will let you know more then.;)
Thanks so much Gerry, loads of (((((HUGS)))) for you, and your always thinking of others, bless you.:A:smileyhea:smileyhea:kisses3: Take Care.

I just actually rang the hospital unit to ask if dad is okay.
I was told the usual, he is fine, settled and he is doing okay.
So I thought I would ask what the chances are of him being home for xmas, her words were "I wouldn't like to say but its unlikely"........, so I asked why if he has been doing okay, she said "it doesn't work out like that"........
Feel downhearted about this........will have to try to speak to his social worker to find out more I think.
I think its this coming week they will have some updates anyway.
I know they can only send him home if they are sure he will settle, but they know how much he wants to be home, he did actually say the other day......he may as well be in prison, so he still has his wits about him bless him.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
