  • Just like to thank Di for being the 100th person to give me a "thumbs up" - much appreciated!

Hope your arm is feeling better - the 'flu jab doesn't usually cause any side effects (I'm booked in to have both seasonal & H1N1 in 2 weeks)

  • Yeah not too bad thanks Di - I've just had a biopsy done on a lump in my neck so am currently waiting for the results (and keeping my fingers crossed the BIG C isn't back)... I'm not at all bothered about the jabs as I've been stuck more times than a dartboard !!! (still - that's better than my ex sister-in-law who, according to my mum has been c**ked more times than Buffalo Bill's Smith & Western!)

Oh blimey, you have been through the wars then hun....., so sorry to hear that and hope everything is okay.

I remember my youngest, when he was about 2 going on 3 years old, we had to take him in to hospital to have a lump on his neck taken out, it was an agonising 2 weeks we waited for the results, all okay though, but what a worry.

Hope all is okay hun X:A

Here is another example of unscrupulous salesmen. Last weekend my sons friend called round and had a new job door knocking for double glazing. He asked if we would have a quote for ours (we have three wooden ones) and I said i would love a quote but no salesman talk and also we would be getting a few quotes and certainly have no money yet. He said "its ok cause the quotes are valid til next year". I then had a call from the company, Ecoseal in stoke who I specifically told i was not well really and only wanted a simple quote as it was 3 small windows. Anyway the man assured us that that is all it would be. This is how the visit went.

Here is my complaint I have logged with both police and trading standards. I still cannot believe this.

I had Ecoseal out and specifically told the caller the night before that i only wanted a no obligation quote. The salesman arrived and I immediately told him we were getting 4 quotes and were not signing up on the night. He then rang his boss and said that he felt like we had wasted his time and could we spare half an hour. We said half an hour was fine. He then measured up and sat in the kitchen writing a quote. He kept asking us if we would let him know of our other quote and we said that was our business and if his was better then we would consider. He gave us the quote and it was quite a lot more than we had previously had so we then let him know of our other quote. He then got on the phone to his boss and was saying "I think we are completely wasting our time with this one, they are more interested in the money to quality etc etc". We then said that he did not know the "quality of any other people and that we thougth his quote was too much for us to afford. We then said that maybe if he stayed we were wasting his time. I then said that I found him quite rude and agressive TBH but with that he said to me "whats up with you bunny, was your grave cold this morning when you got out". I could not believe what i was hearing and with that my husband started to show him the door. My son heard the commotion then and started to head towards the door and then the salesman pushed his way back in and started squaring up to my husband. My 13 year old daughter was hysterical and then he dropped his briefcase and said that he could have both my son and my husband. With that I got the phone and said I would dial the police. He said to call them and with that he went to his car shouting abuse and then drove off. I am now logging a complaint with both the police and trading standards for this. I cannot believe this happened and must say I am still shaking now.

Follow up here the day after

Just to follow up. I have now logged a complaint with trading standards and also informed the police just for notes and no charges are being pressed as I know that no actual crime was committed but I wanted it noting down.

I have also called the company to submit a complaint and the "director" of the company would not listen and abruptly put down the phone. This just goes to show you what type of company they are if they would not even listen to the customers point of view and follow a complaint up. God knows what it would be like complaining if windows had been fitted badly.

I have a complaints ref number with Trading Standards as i fear for the next person and if they get the same salesperson that we had how far would he go. He pushed our door to get back in and actually my daughter could not sleep last night because of comments he made about her window trying to fighten us in that it was not safe and she feared he would be back. This was actually not one of the windows that we were having a quote for either as that one was done some years ago. These types of sales practices need to stop and I for one will do all I can to get this stopped. My advice would be to NEVER USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU ARE DEFINATELY NOT BOTHERED ON PRICE AND READY TO SIGN ON THE NIGHT AND ALSO CERTAINLY NOT HAVING ANY MORE QUOTES AND MOST OF ALL - DO NOT EVER COMPLAIN TO THEM AFTER. YOUR COMMENTS OR COMPLAINTS WILL NOT BE HEARD.

And follow up for the day after that. Trading Standards rang me to say that they are coming out on Tuesday to visit for a briefings etc. I know there have been other complaints also about the same company as they are listed on the site I use to name and shame.

This is a typical example of bad practice in sales and if my hubby or son had of fought back (which is hard for any man not to have done and it was only by my daughter being hysterical) we could have been prosecuted. He wanted a sale and cause he was not getting one (for the commission) he got his back up. Just how far would he have gone though without my daughter screaming her head off. I still think we have not heard the last of it too. I am actually scared he will be back.

    OMG Marshallka

That is a terrible experience for you and your family, so sorry to hear that!

And blimey, its absolutely digusting with their attitude, very naughty indeed.

Glad you have reported this though, others need to be aware as well.

We were being pestered by a window company last month, they knocked, hubby told them we are not in the position at this time, so its not worth bothering, and besides we are happy with the ones we have so far, although we are thinking maybe in a few years of renewing the porchway, wish hubby never said it......
I was annoyed that hubby gave the number, cos within hours they rang and asked if they could give a quote on the porchway, I told them no, and to remove our details from their systems and again they rang 3 times the following day......and a few more after!

Hubby spoke to them the last time and told them to take off the details or they will be reported, luckily so far they not got back but they never listen do they?

Its nothing compared to what you went through though.

This appointment was made through the friend of my sons. He has only worked for them for a couple of weeks and we said we would have the quote cause we are actually having problems with damp at the moment. We made it clear to my sons friend and also the man that called the night before that we were in no position to be signing (although only 3 very small windows that are wooden) but would love to know what we are looking at paying for them and they knew this before coming out. It says on their leaflet "no obligation quotes". The salesman as soon as he came through the door was in a mood cause he threw the book with windows and doors in at me. I did greet him at the door though saying to him "I only want a quick quote and nothing else". In the end I walked off after his quote and he got on the phone to his boss talking about us and slating us (whilst still in the same room) and I found it dead rude. I then said to him "maybe if you stay any longer we would be wasting your time cause its not within what we would be willing to pay for them if we did have the money as it was double our other quote". He then gave me a round of abuse and with that my hubby shot up and showed him the door. By this time he was shouting too and my son heard and headed towards the door and saw this man nose to nose with my hubby. It was then he dropped his briefcase and shouted "cmon, i could have you both". I just got the phone and dialled 999 as i really thought it was going to be fisty cuffs. We tried to close the door and he kept pushing back in actually it hurt my hubbys wrist and then when I flew towards the door with the phone he started to walk away shouting more abuse.

Can you imagine if that was some elderly person and he lost his rag.

    This is absolutely shocking!!!!

Definately not on, that is abuse, and like you said imagine if he was dealing with someone who was elderly.

The books should be thrown at him.

He was very threatening indeed, I would have done the same as you as well Marshallka..by reporting this and the behaviour - its disgusting of that sales rep!

I bet your son's friend feels very awkward about this as well.

Hope your hubby is okay as well, well all of you for that matter, that is very disturbing and upsetting.

I would go to town on the Waster........wish I could say more than that on here about that guy!!!!!
