Dad missed out on a bed today at my local hospital, his notes in his cardex stated that he was refused, my mum checked on this and they said that it was too late in the day for the transfer, and they allocated it to someone else......
However, mum has to contact the hospital he is in now for approx 11 am tomorrow, and maybe there will be a bed in the local hospital tomorrow on one of the wards.
He was a little upset this evening a few on his bay had gone home, one of them used to keep dad company as much as he could, and only actually lives down the road from mum and dad, sad isn't it?

Anyway, apart from that he was rather calm, did try to wander again this morning, so fingers crossed we shall have news on the local hospital tomorrow.
    Will keep you posted.;)

Would it be better you ringing instead of your mum Di. I am not saying your mum is not able to but sometimes they can fob someone older off. You really need to get him somewhere else by the sounds of it.

Your right Marshallka, I said that as well, I think this is why dad did miss out on a bed today to be honest, so I thought I would contact the one from SS who is also dealing with my dad, who have been brilliant so far, to make sure on this, on my behalf the other day they contacted the hospital in regards of the other hospital they were going to move dad into which was 25 miles away, she sorted this out straight away.;)
    Thank you XXX

Mum said it was the hospital that he is in now acted too slow on this today.
So it is wise that SS are involved in this tomorrow as well.

    Hi All

Showergirl hope you enjoy time with your daughter.

Di sorry your dad missed a place. I know it is difficult and systems fail. Can I suggest you make an absolute pain of yourself with the hospital and SS etc. Obviously not being rude as I know that is not you but ringing several times a day just to show that you are questioning everything. Do it with a smile on your face if you know what I mean. I know working on a Unit for Adolescence that the parents on the phone all the time are the ones that get sorted first.

I know years ago when my gran was in hospital I went along with what they were saying trusting them completely. Wrong move I went in one day to help feed my gran and was told by the sister in charge that I had to sit and watch and was not allowed to help her. I was daft enough to do as I was told.

Anyway some years later when my father in law was in hospital with terminal lung cancer, I kept right on top of them, in fact at one point I had to chase the sister on the ward down the corridor to get the information that I needed. Anyway the long and short of it was that I got what I wanted quickly, he was transferred by private ambulance into the local cottage hospital where the care was superb.

Really feel for you at the moment Di and send you lots of love.x

    Thank you Max.:A;)

Taken it all in :D, cheers so much.

Rang SS, left a message on the answer machine, fingers crossed and now to try the hospital as well.
I think we have to try to keep on top of them all.

I spoke to mum just now and said I will sort this, then my sister came on the phone and offered as well, so at least we can share this chasing up now.;)

I shall let you know, thanks for the advice Max, and everyone else, your all ever so thoughtful and very understanding. XXXXX
