    Hi Di, thank you.;)X

This afternoon the SS decided to make a visit to the hospital to see dad and the staff, and explained the situation to the Ward sister etc, that it is very important and urgent that a bed must be given to my dad at the local hospital as a matter of urgency, it is actually day by day at the moment, but SS hoping this will be tomorrow.

Well done to your daughter, Congratulations, what a bright spark she is........:T:beer:XXXX

hi all, you keep on at them di, we are all more educated now in lots of things, their not god, when my mum was in hospital last year most of the staff were really nice, except one, my mum had messed herself and i told this nurse so that she could change her, 20 mins later we were still waiting so i went to find this nurse and she was in the room where you could get a cup of tea laughing with two other nurses!!! i stormed in and gave her a real peice of my mind ( how i did not grab her by the throat i dont know) anyway to cut a long story short my mum did not get the care that she needed and starved to death, that was not on the death certificate though, she looked like a prisoner from belson, the two weeks she was in she hardly ate anything (she only had an infection) we went in at all hours to get her to eat small amounts when we were not there the meal trays were just put down and then taken away. i had a go at everyone by the time that two weeks were up, when i visited my mum there was an old chap who clearly had dementia (my mum did not, but i wish she had as she would not have been aware of what was happening to her bless her) but this chap fell out of bed twice and the nurses were stood at the nurses station chatting and laughing, they were in front of the four bed ward as the patients need to be constantly monitered , i helped him back in bed the first time but when he fell out again i shouted the nurses and one just said oh he has done that a few times!!! i know most of nhs staff are really good we had a couple who could not do enough for mum, but sadly she died last july, the news has had an item about the elderly not getting proper care in hospital, so it still goes on, just because you are elderly doesnt mean you shouldnt have the care you need, so di you keep at them and dont be afraid to open your mouth ,and make sure your dad is getting nourishment, i hope your dad doesnt have to wait long to get the bed he needs xx

    Hi Amersall

So sorry about what happened with your mum. I totally agree with you about the care. There are some good ones out there but sadly there are as many who are useless. It makes your blood boil doesn't it.

thanks max and pinknico, the only comfort was she had a crumbling spine for years and was in a lot of pain, i would not want her back to keep suffering that, she worked full time till she was 65 then she retired and everything went down with her health from there on in, she worked all her life and boy could she graft, my dad died when i was 10 and i was the eldest of five, he was only 32 so she was left with 5 of us to bring up so had to work, and i must say she did a pretty damn good job, she has earnt her rest and i hope that whatever is after this life she is happy and pain free now, ps, i am an orphan now does anyone want to adopt a 49 year old lol

    Hi amersall,
So sorry to hear what you been through as well, and your poor mum as well, how sad this is.....
Your right though, we do need to keep on, all morning I have been ringing the hospital he is in now, and also contacted his SS, she was ringing at the other hospital and has an arrangement with a ward sister to ring the hospital about a bed as soon as one comes up.
Apparentely the hosital only has 12 respite beds,(the main part for dementia patients) but they are also looking towards the unit next door to that as well, which also has 12 beds, so whatever comes up first.
We are to keep ringing basically.
My older brother will be away as from tomorrow for 2 weeks, but my other sister stepping in to help as well, as she has the weekend off for the bank hols.
I made sure with the SS that is did not make any difference due to the bank hols, she said as dad is urgent for the very next bed, it will make no difference at all.
Again Amersall sorry to hear of the experience you have been through as well.;)XXXX
