    What about Coop? They were the bank I was thinking of, I don't give 2 hoots about RBS/Natwest. I'm not natweststaffmember or shelfstacker or any of the others.

    You may want a visa debit but others may be happy with electron/solo. If you don't tell people, they don't know!! Also weren't there some threads a while back about Yorkshire Bank, don't they give out a Maestro with their readycash account?

    Kavanne - sorry mate, I just want to point out I was not having a dig at you and neither was I suggesting you implied Natwest, I simply mentioned that they were actually one of the worse mainly due to the fact they rarely upgrade using behaviour scores. Can I just set the record straight with this. Thanks.

    Ok, co-op from what I am told do not issue visa, it is an electron? YB is good and yes you get maestro but again, lack of branches and the fact you can only apply in branch is a big put-off - in scotland you have Clydesdale of course....

    This is because Clydesdale Financial Services is/was nothing to do with the Clydesdale Bank
    and is now named Barclays Partner Finance.

    Kavanne its always a good idea to keep read Martin's articles regarding the best cards at any one time, any updates are linked in the weekly email.

    Why have you only suggested some basic accounts? Shouldn't you provide links to all so people on here can decide which one they think is best? Sorry but I'm all about information, not advice.

    why dont you just add what you want instead of moaning about it.that would be more productive wouldnt it.??????

    In order to obtain a Basic Account, it is best to go into the bank and apply in person. Some will ask that you apply for a full account and if they refuse you, they may be able to offer a Basic Account - this is perfectly normal and should be expected. The best Basic Accounts come from the following banks;

    Didn't know HSBC offered a basic account, with debit card too?
