Sorry to hear about the tripping and eye problems. I may have missed some posts here, but I'm just wondering if you have had these properly looked into, could the two be related? Sorry if I have missed a full explanation somewhere.
Thanks, Seaxwyn. The first time I fell was because there were too many legs vying for the same bit of road and I wasn't looking, and the trips were because of an uneven floor. No, really, they were. And favoured friend really did park where there was some slimy mud on my side of the car. I wonder whether he did that purposely? But I am due for an eye test in the next couple of months, so I will definitely get that organised, just to be sure to be sure."Green pastures are before me,

Rackhams is a swanky department store in Birmingham (House of Fraser) although it is a bit jaded now that Selfridges is in the Bullring. It always used to be a saying in Birmingham when folks were skint that they would go and stand up the back of Rackhams. I think that ladies of the night used to hang around by the cathedral which is up the back of Rackhams. I do know that ladies of the night used to hang around by the main front door because I was meeting a chum one night and was hanging around waiting by the door when I was told to shift my sorry @rse by a lady of the night because I was on 'her' patch..I did say that I was there first and that perhaps she should find somewhere else to stand - I remember she gave me £20 to clear off:cool::rotfl: which of course I did when my chum turned up.
So now you know about Rackhams.
I am not going to nag you about your tenants - I just hate to see your good nature being taken advantage of.0 -
Hello, poorbutrich! Lovely to see you back - every time I think of going back to the osteopath I think of you!
Hi Wordsmith!
I'm sure thinking of me at the osteopath isn't good for your health! Sorry for sticking my nose in about the tenants - what you've said does put it in a slightly different light!
I recall that MrPBR and I were about a day away from buying a house and we pulled out because a couple of joyriders drove through the front of the house. I know we were painted as the villains of the piece for pulling out at the 11th hour, but we were quite irritated that the vendor didn't think to tell us about the gaping hole in the front room!
I know you are far too kind and thoughtful for your your good, and again, fingers crossed that it gets resolved one way or another. I see the stress hasn't dampened your hilarious adventures!
Take care and keep us posted!Overpay!0 -

Oh, no, PBR, don't be sorry for posting. And you weren't sticking your nose in - I am always pleased to listen to input. I don't blame you for pulling out of that house purchase - I would have done, too, and I wouldn't have been annoyed with you had I been the seller (although I would have been very, very annoyed with the joyriders!)."Green pastures are before me,

Ah, I knew I had heard of it. My sister used to live in Birmingham and I remember her talking about it. The inside, that is, not round the back. Funny, she never mentioned that. I have often wondered how she is in the position of almost retiring at just after 50, with the mortgage paid off ... _pale_I remember she gave me £20 to clear off:cool::rotfl: which of course I did when my chum turned up.
Crikey, does that mean you are the recipient of immoral earnings? I can imagine people saying, "What! When I stood up the back of Rackhams I had to do more than move away for my 20 quid!""Green pastures are before me,

I never asked her where she got her money from and anyway it was soon spent:rotfl:0

Sorry that things still aren't right with the house. It is so tough sorting things out when you are not in the same country.

Am I cross? No. Am I mad? No. Am I hopping mad? No. Am I madder than a mad person having a hopping mad mad fit? Doesn't even come close.
House negotiations came crashing down today after I extended my Tuesday deadline to Thursday because the buyers said they had definitely transferred the deposit monies but they hadn't got to the solicitor yet and I thought, fair enough, there's a hold-up with the bank. When the money still hadn't got to the solicitor yesterday and the buyers weren't contactable by phone (that is, the letting agent managed to talk to Mrs Buyer who was adamant the money had been sent off but her husband wasn't responding even to her telephone calls), so, giving the benefit of the doubt again I said that if the money hadn't got to the solicitor's bank today and Mr Buyer hadn't given a satisfactory answer as to why not, then I was definitely pulling out. I duly sent off the email giving my solicitor that very instruction at about 10.30 today, only to be told that Mrs Buyer was still saying the money had gone and the letting agent had given them two months' notice to quit the house. And there was me thinking things might still be OK but I was again the last to know anything. When I calmed down a smidgen, I realised that the letting agent wouldn't have given them notice without talking to me. So I emailed him. At the same time one of his assistants phoned me and said the Mrs Buyer had been in floods of tears on the phone this morning saying that her husband was still saying he had sent the money, but she knew he hadn't. And now she was worried I would kick them out. Is the man deranged? Surely he knew he'd get found out eventually. Apparently this isn't the first time he's done something like this - I was told a story but as it doesn't involve me I don't feel I can repeat it here.
So, all that agonising about whether to sell. Three months of expectations. Another two months of will they / won't they follow through. And a further month of being angry but still thinking it might happen. And being assured it would and so making plans for the money. Oh, my lovely plans.
And now, now, getting on for £1,000 spent. No house sale. No money. Maybe no tenants.
When I've calmed down (I'm thinking Tuesday week), I will have a think about what to do next. Put the house on the market? Get in new tenants? Let the waster tenants stay? (Apart from Mr Tenant-Not-Buyer being obviously a bit loopy [sorry, not very PC, but am I bovvered?], they were excellent tenants.) The cheapest option would be to let them stay. But. But but but ..."Green pastures are before me,

Forgot to say, yes I do know everything happens for a reason. I promise to remember that on Tuesday week. Until then, grrrrr."Green pastures are before me,

Whaaaaattttt????[STRIKE] :mad::eek::mad::eek::mad::mad:[/STRIKE]
It'd take me well past Tuesday week. Does the man seriously expect to get away with simple lies indefinitely??? And what is going on that he tells his wife he sends money that she knows won't appear?
I have to say I'd boot them. Wouldn't feel able to trust them in the house. But I am currently very annoyed on your behalf, so might reconsider when calmer.
((hug)) and I hope you have chocolate to hand. Or whatever you prefer in these situations.
