Yuck to bad eyes. Lucky GP came in when he did from the sounds of it!
I hadn't realised that a) strays were such a problem in Ireland and b) that the laws ref putting them down were so draconian!:eek:Don't pets get microchipped over there?
Sorry about the house. Give them a deadline and then after that tell them it is going back on the open market. No point in dragging this on another year. And bah to everyone not telling you. I take it you hadn't got to the point where they paid over the deposit. Would have been a nice bit of cash for you!
LOL at Finn eating like a horse. Nice that Brian has someone to get on with. Hope mamma cat is ok.
Take care

I agree with everyone else about the house - put it on the market.
Sorry to hear about the tripping and eye problems. I may have missed some posts here, but I'm just wondering if you have had these properly looked into, could the two be related? I hear you all re the house. In the early hours of this morning when I couldn't sleep but was too lazy to get up and do anything, I decided I would give the buyers a deadline. The solicitors (after I phoned again - why oh why can't they just talk to me?) have now said exchange next Monday with completion on Wednesday. I have agreed but said that if there is any further delay and we haven't exchanged by close of play on Tuesday I will withdraw the sale. I hope it won't come to this, since if I do withdraw I may be cutting off my own nose. But, who knows, maybe I'd make more on the open market. I don't really want the stress of it, though. And the tenants might not want to move and then I'd have to decide whether or not to kick them out - I don't want that kind of decision."Green pastures are before me,

Hi Wordsmith
Loving your hospital story! I totally hear you about the signs - we couldn't find any on our recent visit to our local hospital and ended up travelling as the crow flies through wards, teaching rooms, a cafe and two car parks to get where we wanted to be - just four floors above it. How anyone with a bad eye could find their way around is beyond me.
Wishing you luck with the house - I am sure that the tenants are feeling the pressure as much as you are. It is a huge decision and I am certain they're not just "timewasting" to annoy you. If they are, I am sure you will have your answer very soon. Sorry if I'm being too soft - having been on the tenants' side of the fence before and having ended up homeless twice through no fault of my own, I would give them a bit more time and then everything will be resolved to your satisfaction one way or another. It's a tough world out there for most people.
Good luck, and please try not to fall over again; even though I know it's not your fault!Overpay!0 -
A lot of dog pounds in wales have a max 7 day stay for our 4 legged friends unfortunately, It's not their fault, its to do with the sheer amount of animals that come in. Microchipping should be law so the owners can be traced.
I have found worse working in forests tbh. A dog tied by its lead to a tree so it starved to death and quite often female dogs from puppy farms shot and dumpedI have dyslexia, so get used to my spelling and grammarMortgage pay off date 11/2028. Target 12/2020 :rotfl:

You may already have seen this, where clicks raise money for rescued animals in the States and in catastrophes such as the Tsunami.
Hope nobody minds me posting it: it's a small but real way that animal lovers can help, and if you look at the tabs along the top of the page there are a number of other excellent causes (hunger, breast cancer, autism, literacy, veterans and rainforest) that can be helped for nowt.Miggy

Horace would rather stand up the back of Rackhams than apply to become a female wrestler!
I am applying for another job as a boutique hotel is opening up in Brum next year and they will be wanting an event manager - they haven't advertised for one yet but I know they will want one because they have meeting rooms.
Today was a wierd kind of day - didnt sleep well because of noisy tv next door and the fact that roadworks are going on outside for most nights from 10pm until 6am:( I did go on a silver jewellery making course which involved fiddling around with silver clay (silver powder, oil and binder) to make a pendant. Trust me to pick a teardrop shape which is much bigger than the normal size that is made at taster sessions. Still the teacher helped me a fair bit because she knew that I couldn't see that well but I did do some of the shaping, bevelling, squishing and polishing. Must admit that I did get told off about the back of the piece because it is not as pristine as it should be but it looks as though it has been handmade. This clay is wierd stuff because it gets put in the kiln every so often and at the end the kiln temperature is cranked up and the clay turns into solid silver as the binder and the water burn away. I am rather pleased with the pendant.
Must head off to bed now...zzzzz0 -

The dogs from my area tend to go here.miss_corerupted wrote: »I have found worse working in forests tbh. A dog tied by its lead to a tree so it starved to death and quite often female dogs from puppy farms shot and dumped
Yes, sadly these stories and others, worse, are everywhere. There are some evil people about. And when you think the UK is probably one of the better countries for animal welfare, it is mind-numbingly sickening what happens in this world of ours - to people as well as animals. You may already have seen this, where clicks raise money for rescued animals in the States and in catastrophes such as the Tsunami.
Thanks, miggy. I didn't know about this, but will do the click daily from now on.Horace would rather stand up the back of Rackhams than apply to become a female wrestler!
What if you were allowed to wrestle men rather than women? Hello, poorbutrich! Lovely to see you back - every time I think of going back to the osteopath I think of you!
I know what you mean about the tenants, and I too had to leave a house I loved because the owners wanted to sell it. And that's why if the tenants didn't go through with the purchase I wouldn't want to be making the decision about selling on the open market. However, they first mentioned buying it three years ago, and it was back in January (a few weeks after I replaced the boiler at nearly £4,000) that they made a definite request for me to sell it to them. We agreed a price - I asked for less than I knew from a "reliable source" was their absolute maximum (don't tell me off, Horace), was completely up-front with them about old the building works, didn't press when I knew they were getting together the deposit, and only really started getting frustrated when time was dragging on and they weren't communicating with or responding to messages from their solicitor, the letting agent or me. This isn't a young couple starting out - it is two fully-employed middle-aged people both on their second marriages. I don't mean that I don't realise money may be tight for them, but they are not naive and they are quick enough with getting on the phone if they want something done. If they had decided against buying the house, that would have been fair enough, or if they had asked for more time I would have been suspicious but accepting, but the builders' report seemed to be nothing more than trying to get me to reduce an already very fair price (in my humble opinion). If they don't buy, then I don't know what I will do - I will get my own structural survey done for sure, but as for letting or selling, I don't know. Still, let's hope it doesn't come to that.
And as I annoyingly keep saying to everybody else, things happen for a reason, and you are right, it will be resolved one way or the other and will be the Right Thing."Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0
