I was going to reply in a sane and measured way but Finn and Brian distracted me so all I will say is 'please desert us not for other boards where dwell the people who read not the questions, let alone the feelings'.
If they are nasty to you again, tell them from me that if everything seems black and white, they are looking at penguins not people.
I had better have a lie-down, I think I need one.Miggy

Hi Wordsmith
Just been catching up on your diary. I remember you first getting the offer from your tenants to buy the house, can't believe its come to this. ... Why have your mortgage co. said no (if you don't mind me asking!!). !!!!!!s.
Thanks, copperjar. I think it is just a blanket rule they have. They said they would allow it if I had relocated with a job with the same company I was working for before (and they'd need a letter to prove it) or if I was in the forces. I think 90% of mortgage companies do allow it - it is just unfortunate that I am with one of the 10%. It is even more unfortunate that I didn't realise this before getting all holier-than-thou and owning up to them.Wow, I can't say b uggers!
That's because it's a very naughty word. I was reading another thread and where someone was writing about going to S!!!!horpe. :rotfl:"Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -

If they really loved the house, they wouldn't risk it by playing silly games.
(apologies if sounding really grumpy - in short I am, thanks to a rotten time at work!)

Oh, [insert copperjar's naughty word], I have to admit that you are right. I have to say that although I was trying to act all grown-up and forgiving, I am beginning to feel mighty [insert Wordsmith's naughty word] off that they haven't even apologised to me.
I hope work got better."Green pastures are before me,

Is that what you're meant to do? I would never have guessed from some of the stuff I've read...
Not reading the question does bring forth some rather lively debate, I suppose.I was going to reply in a sane and measured way
Well, I'm jolly glad you didn't. I would have thought you were running a fever.'please desert us not for other boards where dwell the people who read not the questions, let alone the feelings'.

:T that's fab - I may also quote you elsewhereOh, [insert copperjar's naughty word], I have to admit that you are right. I can see what you were trying to do, but I'm afraid I think your efforts are wasted on them.
'Don't give to takers, give to givers' springs to mind. Probably because of the amount of psychology stuff I have been reading recently in an effort to understand the work issue. It's not really better yet, and it will probably take a long time to get fully solved, if ever - we are talking fundamental communication and personality differences here. The kind where one person disregards protocol, manners and innocent bystanders, then claims "oh I was just being honest, I forgot I was talking to the MD, I felt very strongly about it, oh but I don't want to find a solution".:mad: While I remain suspicious that most people who say "I'm just being honest" usually mean "I couldn't be bothered to consider the evidence, think about the possible reactions and approach the issue sensibly, because I am too lazy and insensitive, and don't actually care about the outcome". (I do realise that my perspective may be at the other extreme... ) Funnily enough, I also suspect that I have already put vastly more effort into resolving the issue than the other party ever will. :wall: *What happened to the shrugging smiley?*
Anyway it's the weekend now :T

I like lively debate, so long as that's all it is. Unpleasant, ill-considered and hurtful, no. Lively, yes. Daft: absolutely.Well, I'm jolly glad you didn't. I would have thought you were running a fever.

Debate, yes. Cherry picking the bits to relay to other people for one's own ends and to misrepresent someone else is a definite no-no.
Gosh, we could have a debate on this! But I'm far too shallow to join in.
I meant to say, Miggy, that I too liked the bit about penguins.
Finn was fine at home. The only visible evidence of his activities was the flood on the kitchen floor where he had obviously spent a lot of time trying to fish a noodle out of the bottom of the water bowl. I think he had been entertained somewhat by lovely landlady's husband painting the outside of the windows - apparently Finn spent the whole time on the inside of the window following and trying to catch the brush.
I let Finn out this morning while the rest of us went for a walk down the lane. When I got back, for the first time he was missing. _pale_ Lovely landlady's husband said he had to check on some cattle and would look out for Finn on the way, so he went walking off in one direction while I went in the other. When I looked round the tart had gone off with him - I was on higher ground and could see her trotting merrily beside him. B1tch. One day I will force one of those wretched animals to love me best. After half an hour Finn magically materialised out of thin air outside the cottage. It's not going to be long before he's out and about - learning about cars (_pale__pale__pale_) and big bully cats and maniac dogs and sausages at MrP's. It's a tough old time letting little ones grow up."Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"

I hope your efforts are noted by other people in your workplace. And I hope you enjoy your job enough to make it worthwhile. You will get your reward one day, in some form or another. It must be so frustrating for you. Don't give up the fight though - while you are still being reasonable, you have the moral high ground."Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"

Aww. I think I might spend the rest of the day as a cat - preferrable to the stuff I had planned.Miggy
