Alternatively you could just go to Cafe Nero where they issue you with a card, which they stamp each time you buy a coffee. When you get to 9 stamps you get the 10th coffee free.

Bloody hate Starbucks, they have forced so many independent coffee shops out of business and their coffee sucks compared to cheaper brands like Illy and Lavazza.

I'm just glad that their profits are down ((:

Luckily there is a coffee shop near me where it's literally situated across the road from a Starbucks and they have huge queues of people. The shop is really really beautiful, the coffee is cheaper and it tastes soooo much better than Starbucks. There are also a dozen of other chains as well who just don't get it, the coffee is crap and is rediciously expensive. If Starbucks tastes better than what your offering you deserve to be closed down.

Also there is a drive through Starbucks near me

Thanks for this; I have a very nice Starbucks card with a picture of the delectable Paul McCartney on it; it seems scariligious to use it but it would be rude not to with an offer like this!!

I have had a starbucks card for about a year which I top up when I have change lying about in my purse, and nearly every month have had an offer through for something free, as well as the free estima coffee and money off coupons too. If you use Starbucks a lot its really worth using the card - but remember to register online! :T You can use them abroad as well. We did this in New York, as I am rubbish when it comes to american coins, saved me the affront of getting it all wrong!

I often buy put £5 on a card to give to people as part of their bday/xmas pressie, and they are always really chuffed! A wee change from a shop voucher and a nice way for a friend to treat themselves to some fancy drinks, especially if they usually drink instant!

    Hi there,
I am about to set off for the states and am wondering how they charge you on the card (if you've loaded it with pounds) if you buy coffee in the US using it? Anyone know?
    Thanks!!!

One thing I like about Starbucks ( well mine anyway) is that they really like people coming in and working - or at least they seem to- I sometimes take my marking in and get loads done for the price of one coffee- and I don't find that elsewhere. And I think they do try to get the customer service right, being frindly and reognising you etc which I don't always find elsewhere. And I don't think £1.99 is really expensive for a latte- though I do admit that they can't make tea.

Just a quick word of warning - the discounts will only be applied if you already have a balance on your card.

If you are topping up your account, and paying for the drink in the same transaction (i.e. I'll have a soy caramel latte please and can I top up my card with £10) then you WILL NOT receive the discount on your drink.

This happened to me this morning, and I was advised by the staff that the discount only applied if you loaded your card first, and then paid for your drink. (i.e. I'll top up my card with £10 please, and now can I use that money to buy my soy caramel latte please).

So, you need to top up your card FIRST and then use the funds on the card to purchase your drink.

I'm a regular at my shop, so it didn't really bother me, and the lovely guy there gave me my 30p back anyway....but for those of you who are new to the Starbucks card, make sure you have funds on your card before ordering your extravangant 'soy, caramel, whipped cream frappachino' otherwise you'll be paying for all your extras!

    Hope this helps someone! :)

It was always going to happen, all the Starbucks detractors out there taking yet another opportunity to have a pop at them. Why not just let those of us who enjoy a Starbucks coffee just get on and discuss our nice new reward system?

    Rant over:mad:
  • on the other hand you could try a decent coffee store that make's good coffee In London "the flat white" or "The Monmouth" or "Coffee Aroma" Lincoln
