Claimaints with depression/anxiety spring to mind. I can't believe they'd rather sit in the house all day popping pills instead of getting some fresh air and exercise and trying to help themselves see a way out of their hole. We all get a bit depressed now and again, it's quite common. Some people cope by going to work and paying taxes while other sit in the house all day.
Did you see Stephen Fry the other day? He's shifted 3 stone of fat by simply going to the gym As a bonus, his depression that he's suffered from for years has gone!
Now he doesn't sit in the house moping around, good for him. Self help is a wonderful tonic.
Welcome to the benefits board btw,
I can't BELIEVE how offensive and ignorant your post is.
To save going through it and answering the many points in which you illustrate the above, I'll just take one: Stephen Fry has bipolar disorder, it doesn't go away just because you pull yourself together and go to the gym!!
And lots of people agree with you - scareeee!"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)

SO?? I was meandering - as people do - and came across that post. Can't believe the poster was thanked and not reprimanded!"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)

It is not productive to reopen such a contentious thread. If you require benefits advice, perhaps you could start a new thread?

No thanks I might get abusive replies if I asked for advice.
And actually, I think it is productive to point out bad attitudes and try to put people right, try to stop some of the abuse.

It is not productive when the thread is five months old.
We are more than willing to give advice to anyone who needs genuine help!

dmg, dmg, I'm an advice giver myself! You and the gang are not the only 'helpful' people around here. There's all kinds of helpful advice.
