Electricity useage really high?

Tumble drying is definately the biggest challenge, but it surely can't be just that which is causing high bills? I think the £900 bill we had a while ago has set us on a slippery slope and we can't get a hold on it.
No, can't just be the tumble dryer. You need to step back and work out how many kwh you use on average and look at ways of cutting back. Daily readings for a week or so should be enough. Tumble drying is about three and a half kwh for a couple of hours for me.0 -
Have a look at www.imeasure.org.uk as a way of recoding your data on a weekly basis. You can compare your usage with just under 400 households.
We are a family of 2 adults, 3 kids. With gas central heating, elec oven & gas hob.
Average KWH per day for electricity over the past 4 weeks:
18,17,16,15
Gas KWH has been:
55,47,32,41
Hope that helps

Dominiquereynolds :T Thank you so much. just logged all my details in to this.( http://www.imeasure.org.uk/) To be honest I have run out of steam with monitoring what my electricity is doing and this could be just what I need to give me that extra boost. I know I need to do something about it but to be honest we have just changed our ISP and our mortgage provider and so many other things just due to advice on this website it has been put on a backburner so to speak for awhile. So now I am going to get going again to see if I can save even more...or finally work out where my electricity is being eaten up. Just one query. In the bit where you have to put how much you pay per unit this varies in my case. ie it is one price until you go above so many units and then it is a different price..it wasn't possible to put this in..do you just have to change it manually ?Thanks again.Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0
