Well done on deciding to build your own comp, it's great fun! :)

But I think you are overpaying for some of your components.

E.g. you can get a better hard drive with double the capacity for just £8 extra
    Same processor is £14 cheaper
    Same DVD-writer £2 cheaper

might be as well getting a slightly more powerful PSU...much as you don't need 500-550w now...you might if you decide to add a decent GPU....or another drive...or power half a dozen USB devices....The difference in initial cost is minimal..much cheapet rthan having to buy a new PSU down the line.
+1 for the antec....in case you missed the ninja-text

Ooo nice one Poppy, thanks for them links :)

And if I buy this I get the 550W PSU and the Antec 300. Cool - literally :D

By the way, whats the difference between the P43 Chipset and the P45 Chipset

Jaffa - P43 is slightly cut down version p45 - less overclock , less pci-e support.
    See http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/intel-p45-chipset,review-31074.html
Seems a p35 mo/bo will save money , be tried and tested and just about as good.
Pentium dual core doesn't sound as good as core 2 duo so intel charge more for c2d but they come off the same production lines, less cpu memory cache to slow the pents down a bit. They are all socket 775.
My e5200 can go over 4 ghz but isn't stable at that speed http://valid.canardpc.com:80/show_oc.php?id=532173 It sits at 3.6 ghz 24/7

Very little. The core features are the same. The P45 is more of an enthusiast board, it is slightly better for overclocking and supports Crossfire (using two graphics cards together), but otherwise the performance is identical. I have a P43 myself, very pleased with it.

Deffo go for a C2D over a Pentium dual core any day.

Nice case , but I went with one with the USB ports at the very top, if the case sits on the floor, its a long way down for me to plug in the memory stick.

Or I am bone idle to reach that far.

I tend to kick memory sticks out when there in the front :p Might help with them being higher up.

    2!
    :)

as said..the p45 is slightly better, but the older P35 is still a great chipset...certainly seems to be very little difference between p35 + p45 performance wise :)

good call on the 300+modular PSU ... cable management FTW :)

The solution is a USB hub...stick it on the desk :)
(mine hangs down the side of my desk...with phone /camera cables attached)

Peopel really shouldn't say the e5200 is bad as its a pentium, my old E4300 is classed as a C2D yet the e5200 is better. I have recently build a PC for a friend and used an e5200 and its now 3.7Ghz stable (Prime95 stable).

People have missed a major point on the chipsets. The P35 is the safe option but the main advantage the P43/5's have is its PCI-E is 2.0 instead of the earlier 1.1. Noth a huge problem with most graphics cards right now but I do thing that will come into play. Between the P43 and P45 is basically do you ever want to crossfire to cards? if not P43 in for you, if you want raid then watch out as not all boards have the ICH10R and just have the ICH10.
