I'm in a quandry with my ISP - Dunno what to do...

I am currently with 'Plusnet' on their 'Plusnet Pro' option which is £19.99 pcm, I also have their 'Home Phone Anytime+' package, that works out to about £35 pcm, but I'm always paying £50+ pcm as I regularly go over the 15GB allowance (only by 1 or 2GB max,) so they charge me £1 per GB in 2GB slots...
I have never had an issue with connection or being timed out, but I don't like being charged through the nose for the service. I attempted to move to their 'unlimited' service, but they tried to tie me into an 18 month contract. I've told them I'm seriously looking at leaving them - I'm not contracted to them, I'm on a month-to-month rolling contract now.
What do I do?
I have looked at BT Broadband & Phone, but there are very few good reviews online for them...
I have looked into Sky Broadband and Phone, again, nobody seems to have a lot good to say about them - but, I have a Sky TV package.
Can anyone recommend me which way to turn?
I'm not in any of the 'fast internet' areas, so the Sky 'Max' etc services are out (if I went with Sky, it'd be with £17 pcm 'Connect' package...) There is no cable in the area either!
Thanks in advance.

Are there any LLU operators on your exchange, if so they're likely to give you the most competitive pricing. Or if you have an o2 mobile, you get a fiver a month off their normal rates, and the service is good in some areas-but unless it's on LLU, don't bother.
It's impossible to make ISP recomendations without knowing what is available on your exchange. No free lunch, and no free laptop

samknows.com will tell you. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0

The bit you're interested in is the main page under 'LLU operator presence'. See who is available and then research their websites.
All the non-LLU ops are simply reselling the BT wholesale service. No free lunch, and no free laptop

My exchange isn't listed in the LLU Operator Presense listing, so I guess thats a 'no' then? :rolleyes:0 -
No, you need to go to the page for your exchange (put in your landline no. or postcode if you don't know it). that gets you to your exchange's page, the look at the LLU section on the r/h side.
Or are you saying there are no LLU ops on your exchange (usually this is because you are on a small or rural exchange). No free lunch, and no free laptop

So if no LLU available, the prices won't vary much as they're all BT Wholesale service resold. Go for the one that suits your needs and offers decent service. No free lunch, and no free laptop

...and one that doesn't stitch you in to a long term contract, that way you can change within 30 days if you are not happy with your new service.;)0
