shame about the booking Toto :(

I've got a few things to update - all positive, although one involves a confession :o

First thing - I got my Nat west PIN so I now have access to the £24 quidco money again (I was using the wrong numbers! )

Ihave just checked my shares account and I have £32 paid to me today :T which was unexpected. A load of Lloyds shares were given to share holders and they could be bought (at a low price) or left and they would be sold. Well, I decided to take whatever they made - it was only a few shares and they yielded me £32 so I'm going to withdraw that back to my current account.

Cough........the confession........I've made £123 this weekend in a rather high risk way :o Over the years I've had a flutter or two so know how the basics of betting works. I decided to use a small amount of money from my account and see how much I could turn it into. I used a little bit against very tiny odds ie 1/4 1/5 etc and used the live betting on tennis matches and the cricket, things like betting on individual game or sets in the tennis or run rates in the cricket. I've just walked away with £123 profit by then re-investing the little bits of profit (£5 here £10 there) and keeping the initial money there so I wouldn't ever lose anything. It got a bit scary at one point (I had a loss and it almost went a bit wrong) but I got it back on track.

So, I now have £123 plus £32 coming back to me, which means I should be in a position to pay back the £100 to my savings account and I may be able to make a slightly larger than minimum payment on my CC.

Yay well done, just don't let the matched betting lot see your confession, that's like telling the old stylies you've just thrown out a loaf of stale bread :rotfl:

I'll be there :D I need to make sure you exist :D :rotfl:

I have had a call.............I didn't get the job..............nobody got the job:mad::mad:.........just like the last interview I went to :mad:............what an utter waste of 5 candidate's time - a whole day - and the whole day and the discussions since of the 3 interviewing panel..........

    My feedback

    Presentation - best of the 5 :D
She felt it was really good, well presented, well researched and took into consideration wider issues.

Communications and marketing aspects: very strong. (I'd hope so!!!)

Finance tests - 3rd of the 5. She said although not top, it wasn't a concern as I'd done well enough for them to have been able to appoint from what I did.

I was happy with that :rotfl:

The areas they thought I wasn't so strong in: data management/research/development management. Now I knew this already. Although there are 4 people doing this, the manager still needs to know how it all works and how to know if it is correct etc and the weighting of the job really was in this direction. She said that the post had a lot of regulatory reporting etc to carry out and I could see this really did need an R+D and data expert.

So apparently it is going out to advert - for the third time (there weren't enough candidates when I applied the first time and I was asked to interview on the second time  )

I said I felt it was an unusual mixture - comms/marketing/partnership working/community relations and then data/finance/research as they are very different skill sets and she kind of ummmmed and ahhhd and said they had felt it needed 1 manager to over see the whole department (I said I had thought that 2x part time posts would be a solution but that would mean splitting the department in 2).

Good luck to them - I mean, they advertised twice to get 5 candidates and none were good enough - the salary is over 30k, decent for Poole - they are going to have to dangle something really good or wave a magic wand to get what they want from the successful person.

What is it with public bodies thinking they can clamp chalk and cheese together and get someone that fits all the criteria? It's exactly the same as what happened with the last job I was interviewed for

Because it seems like a good idea at the time, and saves someone actually being realistic about the problem.

What they actually need is not someone who can do two separate jobs that only meet where they touch, but someone competent to do their recruiting...

well, the thing is - they do the recruiting! They write the JD, it goes to vacancy clearning, they say ok and it goes to advert.

It's a shame, I think 2 half time managers reporting on their own areas to the strategy manager would work but up to them really as they feel it would be splitting the team.

They're getting themselves confused. They only need one manager, and one "other" person. One to do the touchy-feely stuff and one to do the technical stuff. Which ever is designated "the manager" deals with the people.

The fact they want a FTE manager smells like empire-building...

empire building in a local authority........surely not..........

well, a couple of positives today.

I came home to an unexpected £60 cheque from Wessex water - overpayment of water rates with my close of account changing over to a meter.

I called them as I hadn't had notification of a DD change and it has been set to £25 per month from 1 July. A monthly saving of £23 :D

It will be time over the next few days to start looking at how much I need for the July bills and how much I am guaranteed to earn and then how many blood sweat and tears hours I need to put in on AQA.

I've got around a quarter of a tank of petrol left so fingers crossed the £30 I budgeted for lasts until the end of the month, it should do - just.

lean week job wise - ie nothing to apply for :( Nothing at my work, nothing in the paper, nothing on the jobs pages of the other couple of large organisations locally I check :(

Jobs in the paper are all either sales related, care workers, specialised housing association/social care posts or finance management related.

So, 2 live job applications on the go at the moment, not sure either is ideal or even if I'l get an interview (1 is a teaching post).

Got my teaching observation official feedback and am very happy with the outcome :D
