    Hi Burlesque Babe,

I just wanted to pop and say good luck to you. You were so kind to me on one of my first posts when I was really, really upset. I have stuck around ever since and became a bit addicted!

I understand your wish to not hit the savings. Can I suggest using the snowball to see if that helps. What about a matched savings/payoff system. For every pound you raise to pay off your debt, you can use a pound of your savings.

Good luck - we're all behind you!

    Hi BB.
Just been catching up on last night's thread and flipped onto this to wish you good luck.
You are so brave starting a diary - I keep avoiding facing up to reality. I had no idea of your 'history' - you have done so well.
Maintaining a house and surviving on 1 income is hard - I sometimes think impossible - but you will win through again.
Good step about the water meter - I only pay £17 a month now.
Keep smiling though the tears - I only spoke to you a little in Manchester but you are a lovely lady and very kind to us newbies.

    oooh, thankyou :o

Buffy - basically, I worked full time and then did every evening and every weekend on AQA. I was earning around £600 a month extra on that alone but it almost killed me with the carp I was going through at work, plus I was studying for a module in a Masters degree. On top of that, I ebayed everything I could, exploited every quidco penny I could find and slashed everything right down to around what I'm working with now. I was fortunate in getting a hefty amount of back pay of around £5k and I also got around £5k back in bank charges which was a bit chunk of it, but the rest was nose to the grindstone unfortunately.

I have just checked my bank account for all the ins and outs (well, mostly outs) over Easter and my mortgage hasn't been taken  It was due on the 12th and I was flying by the seat of my pants, but I have £834 available and my mortgage is £771. About a year ago, they bounced it in error for a similar situation, I hope they haven't taken out some later stuff first or something and it wasn't quite enough _pale_ Guess I'll find out soon, but there's absolutely nothing on my bank statement today.

Off to work now, later I'll withdraw the ISA interest.

Tessie - I don't have my full PGCE and only teach adults so I can't do supply - I tried contacting an agency but I'm not qualified enough as I only have PTLLS at the moment :( You must be psychic though - I bought a pack of 6 wagon wheels in Asda yesterday :D

Cheers Tessie - I may well do that. At the moment, my plan is to get CTLLS and then DTLLS which will qualify me to lecture at FE colleges - hopefully either NVQ cookery or NVQ Media related courses.

Well, what an interesting few hours this morning has brought me!!

I have had a letter about a job Iapplied for which closed last week. It was an excellent job, with the organisation I'm currently with, salary of 26-29k. I felt that I had all the right qualities but not the specialism in the field of work but applied anyway and thought I wouldn't be seen as a good enough candidate as it's a very senior post. The letter says they are going to re-advertise due to low response and they would like to consider me with the next round of applications and to let them know if I want to be considered. Erm.........yes please!!! I guess if I wasn't suitable they would have just binned my application rather than bothering to write to me?

I then spoke to someone about a job I applied for over the weekend. It has also been advertised before and I was 'encouraged' to apply but didn't as I thought more qualified people would apply - they didn't - again a low response!! I was told 'shame you didn't apply last time' ;) but the thing is they have now changed the emphasis of the job so whilst I hope to get an interview, I wonder if I've missed the boat (won't bored you with the ins and outs of the details of the job!!)

    And then...........phew......

as I said yesterday, I was able to pull £300 of profit from a share which suddenly went from a minus, back to what I paid and then into profit. I checked my shares this morning - and another share has done the same  I bought 67,000 shares at less than a penny each in a Brazilian gold mine (random, or what! :rotfl:) and thought I'd bought another lemon as they went down even more than i'd paid for them (£700) - seems at least 1 company now wants to buy the mine :T I woke up to £250 profit, thought, I'll leave it a bit, when I checked, it had wobbled down to a £150 profit so I sold £150 worth of the shares.

And they are climbing again  I've just checked a shares board and they are predicting a company to perhaps buy all the shares - at definitely more than Ipaid for them. So, I'm not going to pull any more profit off for the next few days. I'm going to sit tight and wait. It could be the share is being deliberately ramped to make people buy, but i'm going to take the chance and see what happens.

    Phew..........think i need a lay down now......:rotfl:

then I'm going to withdraw the £278 interest off my ISA........:D

    right, quick add up.

    Money 'made' since last Thursday

£300 - profit from selling some Barratt shares
£287 - 2 years interest from one of my ISA's (sob at having to do it, but needs must)
£30 - found in an old account - closed and withdrawn
£158 - profit taken from gold mine share this morning

    Total - £775 !! :eek::T

£300 of that will be for the gas/electric bill and then I can get the DD payments back down again

£400 of that will go off debt. I need to wait until my Sony card statement comes, because that may be enough to clear it. I say may........I'm guessing at the total as I can't remember if I've charged anything to it and I can't remember what the total was last month :o

Not quite sure the rest of the debt will be cleared quite so painlessly, but hey, it's a good start .
