Hi, sorry not done any flying at all today! I've only just got back from my trip to the bank! And yes, I did leave to go there 6 hours ago! I popped in to see an elderly lady I know and she mentioned something she needed in large print, and a friend of mine back at home has it, so we went for a drive to pick it up! We went the long way round to get there as it's prettier and I thought it would be nice for EL, but we came home on the motorway. She thoroughly enjoyed her unexpected drive out and a cup of tea with my friend! I had a nice time too! It was quite fun to be so spontaneous! EL is 92 and nearly blind and deaf and was so upset that her large print book and magazine hadn't come so I'm glad we were able to get the large print magazine for her at least!

DH is going to be late back from work so I'm just rustling up some dinner and then will have a catch up with the thread.

Ooh that was a bit of a rant sorry.

i have a similar prob with dd1, she wont eat anthing except pasta and pesto, and the baby gets on the table like a drunk in a bar :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Evening everyone

SarahSh - good to know things are better with your DH now.
    Welcome back shell2001 and Roxy

Dusty - glad someone has had good weather. It's been pants here today. The forecast yesterday was for the warmest day of the year. It's not been that where I've been!

Mudders - healthy, get well soon vibes heading their way to your Dad.

JillD - hugs and well done on the level thing. Tell me, did you eat lunch? What time do you cook dinner - could you shift the time? Prep it in the morning so there's less stress in the evening? What sort of things do you cook? Maybe we could help you with different recipes using the same stuff. If they don't want to eat, maybe they're not hungry yet? Do they have snacks during the day? The baby's probably picking up on your anxiety. Could you feed the baby before? Or after? Could you give the children a large meal at lunchtime and just a snack in the evening? Then you and hubby could eat together when they're in bed? So many questions! :rotfl:

Just heard on the radio that all of Britain's warships are going to be based at Portsmouth. Talk about putting all your eggs in one basket! Why did Pearl Harbour suddenly spring into my head?

Off now to fly. it'll be interesting pulling the PC desk out - I might manage to get some more of my fling total done....

If the food wasnt so rubbish and we could afford it I would take them to the likes of McDonalds every night just to avoid the stress. Its all so stressful. They never want to eat, they always mess about and argue, etc etc. How can I stop dreading it every day ? We had a family meeting" and they agreed a list of things they would eat , but they are only 4 and 5, so they dont know how to uphold their end of the bargain. Can you do as much as possible of the dinner preparation earlier in the day? I find this really helps. The hour or two before dinner can be horrid - people (big and small alike) are getting tired, getting hungry, getting cranky. I love my slow-cooker because I can have stuff in it when the baby gives me twenty minutes in the morning without him in my arms, and then I don't have to worry about it in the afternoon. Even if you're not slow-cooking, can you prep any vegetables, do any of the pre-cooking?

Re food and kids - I don't think it's a battle you can win - but I also don't think we need to worry nearly so much as we do about what they eat. I prepare a meal - I won't prepare things I know they really dislike, or if I do I'll prepare an alternative - and there are always leftovers around (I *plan* to have leftovers), so anyone who doesn't want to eat what I've made can have those, or make themselves something else. Nobody has to eat what's been made that day, but I'm not a short-order cook. And because I'm not trying to coax people into eating stuff they don't want, dinner-time is much less stressful. I know it's not the accepted wisdom - but the increasing rates of eating disorders seem to suggest that the accepted wisdom isn't working very well. My kids all have likes and dislikes, but their likes are increasing and their dislikes decreasing, and they're much less fussy since I backed off and trusted them to make their own choices. If dinner is so stressful, maybe it's worth a try?

You bleach them. Put some neat bleach on a bit of cotton wool. Wrap it round the cord/pull and leave it for 2 or 3 hours. Should be white when you take it off. Well it was when I saw it on Kim and Aggie the other week.;)

How funny....was just wondering myself what I could do to get our pull cord clean when I was doing the bathroom earlier. Will try that....Thanks!

What do you all think of my 'new' clothes airer:

New is in inverted commas as it was my Grandads and my mum remembers it from when she was little (she's now 63). My Dad has cleaned it up, painted it and fixed it to the ceiling today so its now got some washing on it.

    List update:
Magnificent Monday - Kitchen and dining room

Extras - binbag list! This is my favourite!
    1. fill a binbag for charity shop
    2. fill a binbag for the bin
    3. [STRIKE]fill a binbag for a friend[/STRIKE]
    4. fill a binbag for recycling!
DD2 refusing tea...know how you feel Jill...but she did eat loads at lunch so she's munching on a few grapes instead. DD1 is being picked up from my mum and dads by DH so they should be home soon too. Really need to go for a run tonight but want to get the ironing done too. Mmmm decisions, decisions!

Sunnygirl - love the airer, go for a run is my vote. Need to myself, at the stressy implode/explode stage and it may help.

Not a lot done, everything went pear shaped earlier. never mind, tomorrows another day and all that.

Monday's list all done - star please Toots!

And yes, I know it's Wednesday. But here in NI it's Easter Monday and Easter Tuesday that are the holidays, so today is my first "ordinary" day this week. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it :D
