  • I feel really guilty - my friend and I had organised an afternoon out today, that I really couldn't afford timewise and I'd said I would kill two birds with one stone and go and play with my niece this morning as it's close to where I was meeting my friend (IYSWIM).

Anyway, my friend cancelled on me last night, no probs, we'll do it another time and I was that relieved at gaining back the day, I've put off my little niece's visit - she lives 12 miles away so even a quick drop in would have been 3 hours gone. I do really need the time at home but how to explain that to a 4 year old , especially as I've got no other time off this half term.

I better make this unexpected day at home really count on the flying and studying front, so that I don't compound my guilt :o

Since that's two days in one (and therefore worthy of two stars LOL) I think that's QUITE enough to be going on with. Not least because I have work stuff to do, too.

I use an EXCEL spreadsheet to keep track of my current account , a column for credits, a column for debits and a balance column. When I get to the end of a statement I do a quick formula in the next column to balance ie I add in as yet unpresented debits. I use cheques still, for gifts to nieces and nephews for birthdays, to send dinner money into school and to pay for DD's dancing classes. I use conditional formatting to flag up low balances LOL ie the cells go a different colour if the balance is below a certain amount...but only because a colleague was having a problem with a work spreadsheet and I was called in ... I was trained on Lotus 123 which was very similar (pre Windows!)

    Morning all.

Missed you all yesterday as I was busy ironing & finishing off the laundry. It took me 5 hours to get through the ironing  3 of which was spent on DD's clothes as she got even more for her birthday of Ex's family even though I said no clothes

Flying will have to wait as I'm taking DD into town. I need to run a few errands so this kills a few birds with one stone so to speak - Day out with DD, I get my errands run, DD gets to spend her birthday money (although she's now talking about saving up to buy Guitar Hero for the Wii ) and she'll get a special cake from Sayers/Greggs to make up for me squashing her birthday cake with a carton on milk :o;)

I am going to aim to get some flying done today though when I get in so I'll post a list now:

LilySue - I was brought up in Norfolk (I'm ashamed to say I was born in Suffolk, but I try to keep it quiet!) but had to leave for the usual reason... work...

That's okay Greenbee, I promise not to mention it, after all my maternal grandmother was born in Woodbridge.........Was interested in your Epsom Salts advice, one of the alternative treatments for children with autism ( my youngest son has autism ) is Epsom Salts baths, although you have to make sure that your child does not drink the bath water............

Hex, Toots, Flylady Flower ~ I'm going to join you on that MACAW, really need to shift some things on to ebay, and if they don't sell they can go to a charity shop.

Dusty ~ Hope your hand is feeling better today, that sounds most painful.

Jill D / Gryfon ~ Yes I am in a similar situation to you both. It takes me quite a while to do the lists, it's mostly because I am still " new" to flying and my house is still in control of me:D...but some of it is my personal situation ( two of my sons have special needs)...now I guess all of us have different flying challenges, some will have health problems, others babies and toddlers at home, but I keep telling myself that getting on top of the housework will in the end improve life for all of us! Although I very much hope it doesn't take me an hour next week to clean the inside of my oven!!!

After that overly lengthly post off to actually do some flying.....
