SummerMoon - if you look, you'll see from the siggys that there are a lot of us working on our weight loss at the moment, so you're not alone.

Well done Jo - sounds like you're making progress. Hope your mum isn't too shocked when she gets to you... and that DS recognises his home ;) The reason you never have any carrier bags in the supermarket is obvious... they're all in the bottom of the cupboard! I keep reusable bags in the car, my handbag, everywhere. If I forget them in the supermarket, I just load it straight back into my trolley, then either into bags in the boot of the car or straight in.

Valli - cherry pie sounds good... what time do you want us there :D

LilySue - I was brought up in Norfolk (I'm ashamed to say I was born in Suffolk, but I try to keep it quiet!) but had to leave for the usual reason... work...

soappie... hex... the flinging challenge seems to be going well! I'm getting a certain amount done here, but as it's my parents house there is a limit to how brutal I can be!

TAG - well done on the ironing. And great decision on the chickens... I'd love chickens, but realistically I don't have room, and I'm not at home enough.

Quillion - good luck with your last day at work

    Welcome Mooloo

FFP - I only clean the inside of my windows. I've made an executive decision to outsource the cleaning of the outsides...

Mudbath - good to see you back. Glad you all had a lovely holiday

Dusty - ouch! Poor you. Hope you get better soon.

JillD/Gryfon - we manage to get so much done because we've dealt with the worst and it doesn't ever really get dirty any more. I have no children and I'm out of the house for most of the day... as long as I have an hour for flying, there's not much opportunity for any dirt to be created (mess, yes, as I drop bags, pick up more stuff and run, but dirt... no... you have to do stuff to make dirt!)

Toots... you should be asleep by now... you need your rest... but your light is still on!

Sorry JillD, I realise it must be really stressful, but I have this lovely picture of this small determined person planning her next move
    - yes she is a wily little madam indeed

TAG - yes the extra hour in the evening defo helps
£55 a week is brill. How are you doing it ?
I have read every feed a family for a tenner tyoe thread going and do my best but sometimes I just get so flipping bored of it, like a couple of weeks ago we went to the dentist which is next to Waitrose so I popped in after and splurged. Then the day before holidays I went to get milk, M&S Simply Food was the closest, I was so tired I couldnt face Asda, and I spent £30 on god knows what in M&S.

Anyway I've had a right shock tonight, we have 3 accounts - Current - all bills, mortgage, food come out of this. We also pay a lump some into our "Big Stuff" account which we use to buffer stuff like TV licence, car insurance, swimming lesson fees etc, and then we have a 3rd account that extra money goes into for contingencies.
The shock is that we put £3k into that last year when we got a lump sum tax credit payment and now its all gone. A load went tonight on a car insurance excess we had to pay and a washing machine bill. The rest had gone on stuff like mortgage arrangement fee (they cashed out cheque but still no mortgage forthcoming I am NOT impressed), private medical bills that BUPa refused to pay after I left work , DD2's Christening party, having the patio levelled and random stuff like that.
The Big Stuff acount is also down to zero. Thankfully there are no payments for anything due for 2 months so we can build it up again. The current account is at about £40 for the next 10 days.
I've just paid the credit card bill, had to scrape around but its done.
Have got next one to pay but there isnt much in ot, its due on 30th April and hubby gets paid on 20th so we should be ok. We paid for the petrol food etc on our holiday on credit card and that wont be due til 3oth May so that will come out of 2oth May pay. So at least thats all covered. Just need to make sure we STOP SPENDING between now and then.

We never are so close to the bone but its cos of this stupid mortgage hold up, its costing us £400 a month extra than what we would be paying if they sorted the new deal. All cos of the moron that ran up the bad debt in hubby's name. That person's little bit of fraud is costng us over a grand. I AM LIVID. I cant even think of a bad enough word to call him. I hate it.

    Anyway sorry for another offload.

tag, what are your tips for saving on the weekly shop. Would love to hear them, no matter how teachy suck eggy they seem :rotfl:

I think I said earlier we are going to Ikea tomorrow. We really cant afford the new stuff but we definitely cant buy it tomorrow, so at least we wont be actually spending a lot. And its a day out. Once we have loked at what we want and know it looks ok we can just order it later in the year when we can afford it. I want to paint the playroom first anyway and hubs is having heart failure at the thought of it LOL He doesnt do DIY

Off to bed at last night night

I am so very close to asking hubby to sleep here one night just so I can have a decent night sleep... I am so very very tired all I am doing during the day is loll about and do the bare minimum because I am too tired to do much else.

I am so bad with sleep deprivation.. I can't think straight or summon the energy to do the simplest of things.. lists are hit and miss and one thing at a time.

    *wail*

Wonder if I'll be better once the money situation is sorted out.

    Morning all

Big hugs Piggers - sleep deprivation is the worst. If you were closer, I'd come round and keep watch over the kids for you whilst you slept.

Back to work today. It'll probably be a v. quiet week. The boss is out. Had a strange, strange dream last night all about setting up a business and being successful. Has really made me think about a plan B. I shall perhaps work on that idea this week whilst it's quiet ;)

Very strange sunrise this morning - all yellows and pinks. Think we have a dodgy weather day in store.

Will fly and find more things to fling when I get home from work.

    Have a lovely day people.

Hex, Toots, and anyone else doing it, I am going to join in the 10 items a day thing - hopefully on EBAY with Toots there (have pinched your MACAW Toots, hope that's OK :D) As I really need to start getting rid of stuff...

    ***hangs head in shame***
It's not shameful, but it is hard work - how do you keep track of what you have going in and out? do you use an excel sheet or something?
I use something called Microsoft Money - it's brilliant and lets me plan ahead (you can put in all your bills/credits, including monthly, quarterly, yearly, etc and it inserts them all in automatically for you) I then check online nearly every day to see what has come in/gone out, mark as cleared on Money and this takes me about 2 minutes. then statements at the end of the month take about 1 minute literally and you can use it for all accounts, cards, savings, etc. Also lets me know if a dodgy payment has come out, or more usually, one that I've forgotten :o. I know it is another Microsoft thingy, but there are loads of other options too I believe (Quicken rings a bell?) so you might be able to get something else if you don't want to get on the MS bandwagon...:rotfl:PM me if you want to know more...

Pigpen - can we have a rest from windows please, mine have never been so clean... ;) (mmm, maybe I shouldn't have said that as she may come up with something worse for us to do...)

Dusty, hope your hand feels better soon - sounds painful...

Hugs Pigpen, I hope you manage to get some sleep soon - must be hard whith so much going on in your head too and when you can't catch up during the day either - can anyone pop round to have them while you grab a couple of hours at all? very simplistic answer but all I can think of - have you tried Greenbees epsom salts bath method?

Right, I must move - have been up since 6am - seen hubby off to work again for another 10 days and need to get this place cleaned and back into some sort of order...

    morning :hello:
the sunshine does help - i am feeling a bit better today :j
i also had a good long talk to my big sis ystd and she just understands all my problems :D - not that she can help me with anything but spookily we are so alike (our hubbies sometimes call the wrong names when they see us from the back :rotfl:) - so she's been there done that and can give me good tips!

JillD, Gryfon doing (some of) the lists so quickly it's just a thing of keeping at it all the time. like in the kitchen i always put everything away straight away, try and do the dw asap(ish), wipe after cooking - and then when the 'week' is here is just a case of wiping over it again - i hope that made sense?
and my other rooms i do try to keep them tidy so i just have to clean in the end!
and of course many many weeks of hard cleaning, tidying, decluttering getting there

Jill i so know what you mean there is never any money in the account! and everywhere you'd like to go it's just blooming expensive!
i've stripped all our bills last year and always look out for good deals to change to! that helped!
and shopping: write a menu plan/shopping list and stick to it!!! use your freezer; do a cupboard challenge
i also don't understand it: dh is earning good money but there is never ever any left
i do hope that fraud of yours will get sorted asap!!! we had a few last year but nothing major luckily! ~~quick sorting out vibes~~ coming your way

if i was in doubt before now i know for certain dd has chickenpox - that poor girl is covered!!!!!! but she's not complaining too much really and just wants to go out - might try our local park later

i've done our bed and vacuumed upstairs all over the weekend - i'll do the kids beds instead; i've done all the other things too but it won't hurt give it another quick wipe!

    Morning all!

Will see how I get on with this list as back to work today

Quick question (Ideally an answer before I go to work at 8.30!) I have put a lamb shoulder in my new slow cooker with some water, herbs etc. Will medium be an ok setting for this? OH will be home all day so he could turn it off at a certain time if you think this would be better. This is the first time I have used the slow cooker and I don't want to A) ruin dinner B) burn the house down!

    Thanks.

    Hi F_F
I always put mine on auto so it turns on and off all day and it is fine, I think medium would be OK too, can't see why not as they are designed for that? Not much help really was it... sorry.
