Virgin = MBNA
Asda = GE Money
Egg = Citi

If my husband applies for a credit card, will it be looked on as a joint credit card with me as his wife? I'm already with MBNA and he'd like the Virgin credit card which is from the same company.
No, a credit card cannot be held jointly.
Each applicant is scored individually, so the fact that you have an MBNA card neither helps nor hinders his chances of acceptance by Virgin.Only if he added you as an additional cardholder (financially linked).
If you share a financial product (eg. joint bank a/c) with someone else, then you are financially linked to them (this is important because their affairs could have an effect on your credit rating), but simply being married to somebody, occupying the same home or having an additional card on their credit card account, has no effect whateverPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
he doesn't have any credit and he's with RBS
he may well go with them but i don't think they offer incentive cards such as moneyback or loyalty cards like asda or egg.0 -

This could do more harm than good, as I think you realise.I've told him to start off on Capital One or some other credit builder ...
You've got the right idea. If this would be his first credit card, he may have a limited credit history, so from the lender's perspective he's something of an unknown quantity. They are likely to see his lack of a payment history as too great a risk. He may need a starter card to build up a credit rating.
For tips to improve his chances of credit card acceptance, have a look at the *Credit Rating: how it works and how to improve it guide*, especially Martin's *Manage and Improve your credit score* article

What if his RBS account is a full bank account? This would be recording green '0's for him and would have given him a good score?2010 - year of the troll

It's a help, particularly if he's been with the same bank for a while.
OP, have you checked his credit reports to see what's on there? For help, see page 1 of the *How to obtain credit reports* stickyPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0
