We had been looking for 3 years for a firm who could match our particular requirements to fully change all the windows and doors in our 4 bed house. We had done a lot of research and knew what we wanted. Abbey said they could do it and they did.Their workmen were some ot
f the best we have had.
,and we are very choosy. We do not pay for bad workmanship. They were great. Little problems were found later which some people might put up with, but not us, They have been back twice and fixed and adjusted everything we mentioned and some they sported themselves. We have no link with this firm but will recomend them. Not allowed to put our details on here so don't know how to confirm how pleased we are ?0 -

"Sported",did you mean spotted?
This dyslexia thing is containgous....
I am sure there is nothing to stop you putting your details on here, apart from the obvious, but why would you want to?
I know you are Particular- but 3 years?!! Its just windows and doors..yawn0 -
I am always a bit suspicious when a new poster registers, searches for a specific company, and then posts a glowing report. Googling and then adding a negative comment if you are angry about a company is not uncommon, but something just doesn't ring true about 'Particular' and their comments.
I doubt that most MSE'ers will touch either of these companies with a barge pole due to them spamming the forum.0 -
I have a concern with abbey home improvements/solutions, i telephoned an advert in my local paper saying grants available in your area & gave the number a ring they gave me a reference number & said i would be contacted within 48hrs by their appointed installer, i was contacted by a salesman who appeared genuine & gave me what i thought a reasonable price he gave me a copy of my contract in an envelope advertising that they were a member of fensa registered company.
A surveyor came round to check measurments and confirm my requirments & made arrangements for the work to be carried out on 1st october, this was inconvenient so another installation date was made for wed this wk, the installers arrived wed morning & started work, later on that day discovered they had brought the incorrect doors so said they would have to return with the correct ones, at this point the installer asked for an instalment which i refused until completion of work, so he then said the office would be in touch by Friday.I inspected the work after they left & had some concerns none of the interior trims had been repaced & some damage had been done to the rendering of house which had been disquised with a single piece of white plastic on 1 side of the window.
Thursday morning 2 workmen turned up un-announced with the correct doors & after relaying all my concerns & asking if they were having problems with the sills & thats why they didnt change the old trims becausse i was happy to have plastic sills if this was an issue they said the trims could be changed & but it would make a mess & i would need to decorate, i made them aware that i was expecting some decorating work. When i arrived home from work that day i discovered that they had installed incorrect doors they guy made a phone call to order the correct doors said they would be here this mornin 10am to fit them & left..Im still waiting!
Fortunately i havent handed over any money as i have just discovered that they are not on the Fensa registration website so god knows whats goin to happen next!!Any advice??0 -
Perhaps a call to these two:-
- Trading Standards - tell them about the falsehoods about FENSA registration
- The Citizens Advice Bureau

I am in a bad mood partly due to the sudden surge in noob stooges praising "Crime Research UK" & "SAS FIRE AND SECURITY" - see this thread for the reasons:-

Q: How many PMS women does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: One. Only ONE!! And do you know WHY? Because no one else in this house knows HOW to change a light bulb! They don't even know that the bulb is BURNED OUT! They would sit in the dark for THREE DAYS before they figured it out. And, once they figured it out, they wouldn't be able to find the light bulbs despite the fact that they've been in the SAME CUPBOARD for the past 17 YEARS! But if they did, by some miracle, actually find them 2 DAYS LATER, the chair they dragged to stand on to change the STUPID light bulb would STILL BE IN THE SAME SPOT!! AND UNDERNEATH IT WOULD BE THE WRAPPER THE STUPID @*!#$% LIGHT BULBS CAME IN! WHY? BECAUSE NO-ONE EVER CARRIES OUT THE RUBBISH! IT'S A WONDER WE HAVEN'T ALL SUFFOCATED FROM THE PILES OF MUCK THAT ARE 12' DEEP THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE HOUSE. THE HOUSE! IT WOULD TAKE AN ARMY TO CLEAN THIS #@*$!#@ HOUSE!
I'm sorry ... what did you ask me?I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0 -

My mother-in-law can write better English than appears in those posts, and English isn't her first language.
Yeah, it was that tomy fudgey character, even though I was referring to his own posts...0 -
Yes- I did see that thanks. Unfortunately some mean mod has removed his post and probably his membership. Shame as I really wanted some dirt from him.
Them one-time-posters, they do not last long do they? Just like DOMINIC/CINIMOD /MySmellyToes.....I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0 -
