I have used freecycle & also gumtree (i put a old kids playhouse on there and had 60 replies)

The freebies board has been good for plants and seeds, BBC Dig in are giving away 5 packs of seeds atm.

I use freecycle, but must admit I tend to give away more than I take. I got lil Merry's bed from freecycle (an Ikea toddler bed) which has been excellent but I have given away all sorts, including a selection of Buffy and Angel video boxsets this morning :)

Hope you have them on dvd too? I passed on my video boxed sets to my cousins kids, I can normally find a home for anything!

  • Thanks Kas, it's really just starting to hit me that there are no credits cards, overdrafts to fall back on in the tough times, so all times will be tough now!

I have really lived a life based on borrowing and borrowing more when that ran out, being back to basics is a real eye opener.

I will be keeping notes on everything I spend to see what I'm spending on and if it's necessary and look upon this as a new start to my life and hopefully one that includes a bank account with some money in it!

I'm having exactly the same experience, it's so hard to unbreak a lifetime of bad habits. if i have money, i can't help but spend it, but if i'm really, really skint, and don't have anything to spend on anything except pure essential, i get by just fine. must try harder to apply the 'skint' philosophy to when i have money so it doesn't always burn a hole in my pocket.
and i'm so with you on the nipping out for a loaf of bread and spending £15.
