I have just this week been allocated an allotment having been on the waiting list for nearly a year!!! 1/16th of an acre!! with a chicken coop!!. I just this afternoon purchased six hens and hoping for eggs soon :D, at the moment the allotment is a bombsite, full of other allotment olders flytipping and weeds...lots of work but i have already got stuff going at home ready to plant out.

    hardwork but highly recommened. :T

Hi Shadow.....me too....got mine a couple weeks ago!!! OMG its hard work!!!!!

Its so good to have a piece of land to grow stuff & I know I will save £20 a week in veg costs later in the year....& guess what... it only cost £10 a year to rent!!!!!....now thats definately moneysaving!

Also the people are so nice to me...esp as I am a novice gardener! I`ve even got a little shed to hide in!

No `chucks` though!....I had a farm until last Xmas & the ducks drove me insane with the noise!

Happy allotmenteering !!!...think thats what its called!...still learning here.

thats a great price for the lottie, mine is 35 per year, but waiting for the invoice for it cos apparently i should get it for 20 as im on DLA/incapacity benefit :o

Yeah the guys down by me are wonderful, one chap showed me how to clip the hens wings to stop them flying over the fences :o, Ive been given buckets for there water, there going to get me chicken food when they go next, they are really great guys.

I will be up early to go check on them, gotta start the weeding/tidying though

Edit - I love how threads go off topic sometimes (sorry :( )

Sounds yuck peppa doesn't it? lol Sometimes the egg shells are covered in chicken poo, as they don't get washed and tarted up like the ones in the shops do :rotfl:
