  • Hello

My first post on this thread...

Got a BFP (1st child) last week and we are slowly getting used to the prospect of being 'with child'!

Currently terrified of every niggle, ache, pain, sneeze, cough, yawn that it may be a sign that I might have a m/c. Also, terrified that I have no symptoms at all.

I have made an appointment for Friday at the Docs, can anyone advise anything else I should be doing? I have read the websites about food to avoid. When should I see a midwife and get my first scan?

    Sorry for the ramble!

    Congratulations !!!!

Not all ... you sound just like me!

No smoking, drinking and lots of healthy living!

No pate, undercooked meat or fish.

The dr just checks your BP and then tells the MW about you. Appointment with MW around 10 - 12, scan 12 -14 (depends on area)

MW will be around 8 weeks depending on what area you're in - it really can vary a lot! All they will do then is take your details and fill in a large folder which you then have to get used to carrying with you everywhere.
Until then all you should be doing is continuing with the folic acid and eat as healthy as you can manage. Or if like me just try and keep some of it down LOL
Don't be surprised if you GP doesn't seem excited for you... I think most of us have had the "oh right..." reaction when telling the GP...
The MW should book you a 12 week scan (based on the first day of your last period).

Hi ladies, Nan has a large tumour, so they are going to try 4 weeks worth of radiotherapy to see if that will shrink it. If it will, then they may operate. If not, then there is nothing they can do. It's just a waiting game now, poor Nan :(

I'm tired, well shattered to be honest. I really could go to bed now and wake up in a week lol

Better get the bedding back on before Steve gets home!

maybebaby - the doc should give you info on how/where to register with your local MW...I think the 1st appt for them is usually around 8-10wks, but probably depends on the MW and how busy they are. First scan is 12-14wks.

welcome and congrats to the newbies!!

newmoneysaver - that HiPG form is a pain. I told my midwife last week that I needed it, and she said "fine, no problem, I'll pop it in the post for you." That was Monday, and I still haven't seen it, so will have to call her and bother her again tomorrow about it.

I've got the MatB1 form - I know the MA isn't supposed to start until at least 29wks, can you send it in sooner than that so that the paperwork is organised in time to start at 29 wks? Or do I have to wait that extra couple weeks? I'm 26wks now.
