Thanks guys, feel like I have a huge ball inside me!

Re skin to skin contact - hubby trimmed his chest last night. We have put in birth plan that if I am in no fit state that skin to skin contact must happen immediately with daddy.

We hadn't heard about this skin to skin when i had my ds four years ago . I had an emergancy section under GA so the min he was born he went to his dad who wasn't allowed in the theatre. He felt quite embarrassed i think when the nurse told him to strip ;) to have skin to skin contact. I'm glad he did it though as i was unconcious for 6 hours and he only had his dad.
    This is my signature!

Feeling most sorry for myself today, stuck in the office, trousers very uncomfortable and two other ladies in the office have just announced they are 12 weeks and while I am chuffed to bits for them (we are a very female, family oriented firm so these things are lovely round here!) can't help thinking this little one isn't going to stick around. To top it all I had a bad appointment with new nurse - I have a history of mildly high blood pressure and have been on and off meds and monitoring for the last 10 years but it seems its high again and I am only 8 weeks (today!) and the nurse couldn't understand why I wasnt on medication for it (I don't know why previous previous GP took me off it, I can't remember!). Anyway have appointment with GP next week - as an after thought, she said and he will see you about your antenatal appointments too. I know you can't do medical advice on here but just feeling really down on here that my health could well be screwing this up. My BMI has been 27-30 for years so that doesn't help but I've never smoked, haven't drunk for weeks and my diet isn't all that bad but my gym going has been non-existent the last 3/4 weeks since ectopic scare and hospital - unfortunately my genes aren't in my favour though as we have a tendency towards hypertension in my family even though I am the fattest by a very very very long way. Was really grumpy with DP last night and this morning, I can't seem to get my worries into rational words with him as I know he is worried too! How silly is that? Can you diet in pregnancy? Would that help? Just being bleedin' miserable today. I'll go now!

HELP. Someone tell me this isn't true. My preggie sickness just hasn't gone at 13 weeks and my midwife has said if it was going to go it would have worn off by now, so I can only hope that it'll disappear by week 16. If not then I'm in for the duration. Oh god, this is awful. Does anyone have any glimmers of hope from their situations that might counter this?

Mine didn't ease up till 15 weeks. With DS2 I had hyper-emesis till about 24 weeks after that I just felt sick but had stopped throwing up several times a day.

Skin to skin, DS1 had skin to skin with me after he was born (and resuscitated), but poor DS2 had to wait till day 4 before I could hold him and day 5 till he had skin to skin. He was whisked into an incubator and I was out for 3 days.

Back !!!!!!! hurts! Can't like down, can't stand up straight, can only sit leaning forward. But luckily DH is off tomorrow, and he is going to help me into a bath later on. He came home early to get the kids too. Although saint he aint! He is making fun of me by walking like Igor  And if it wasn't for all the handrails in this house going up stairs and in the bathroom, I'd be screwed.

I'm sorry you're feeling down. (((hugs))) But please don't diet, just eat healthily; it's not good for the baby to diet.
