im worried now as i well be getting less then a £100 on smp ... does that mean i wont be classed as earning x

Why be worried? That means Tax Credits will put you down as earning nothing, but you still get TC as you are still employed.

I know it doesn't make sense lol, but when did anything when it comes to TC!

    Huh?
Ronnie Biggs (born August 8, 1929) is an English prisoner who is known for escaping from prison after his role in the Great Train Robbery of 1963 and for being on the run for many years. He lived for 35 years in Brazil but voluntarily returned to England in 2001.

If he'd just stayed in prison when he was supposed to he would have been at home with his family for years now. Its a bit sad but IMHO he made his bed and he should lay in it

:( we don't get any goodies here, I just got 2 plastic wallets; one with my labour notes and one with postnatal notes and some leaflets and a shopping list.
We even have to buy those super absorbent mats!! It says the MWs will bring some but they only have a limited amount so advise the mum2B to buy at least 10 of her own:rolleyes: the only thing I will get before hand is the Meptid injection as I have to get the 'script myself - which I probably won't use!:p

I've been left with about 3 mats but been advised to best get some more from mothercare but will need to get the plastic sheets. Got vit K injection and the one to speed up the placenta all here. Midwife told me I need to inform insurance company that I now have canisters on the property and display a warning triangle.

Maternity allowence isn't counted at all according to the tax credit booklet that came with my pack and SMP has the first £100 dis-allowed so might be worth checking

I take it you're happy to have those? I'm considering refusing both (vit K on the basis that if all newborns have low vit K levels then they are probably supposed to) and the placenta one on the basis that I want to do it all naturally and I trust my body to be able to get the placenta out in its own time.

Am I on my own with this? Anyone else want to deliver the placenta without the injection?

i was gonna say i got a linkie from work to work out an estimate of how much smp if your like me and earn less then the standard £123. blob but earn over £90 a week
    http://tiger.direct.gov.uk/cgi-bin/maternity.cgi xxx

Cheers for this - very helpful with dates and template letter. I earn more than £123 per week.

What do people think of this?

My employment contract says 'See Mat Policy' - the policy indicates nothing about pay entitlement at all not even 'SMP only'. At the time of signing my contract kids werent on the agenda however I think it's quite unfair esp as other NHS organisations offer reasonable materinty packages.

I'm thinking of writing in my letter something along the lines of .......

Please advise me of any Occupational Maternity Pay that I may be entitled to. My contract points me to the ??????? company policy which does not indicate whether I will be paid SMP only or receive any additional pay during my time on Maternity leave. It was assumed that Maternity benefits would be offered at the industry norm which is 18 weeks SMP plus half pay however I would appreciate some clarification on this.

 what do we think - obviosuly it will be in bulk of letter stating when I wish to start Mat Leave.

MW's are here at work - just asked how I'm doing and I said I was a bit worried I'd still not felt movement but had at 16w! She's going to have a listen for me at the end of clinic - loving the extra stuff!!
A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Where does the time go?

Yep, just checked, they disregard the first £100 of SMP too.

If you look here and look at page 15, it's at the bottom. (It's for new applications, but it's the same rules!)
